Golden Cafe

Our usual place to get late night dinner (they close around 11) and the food is reliably good. They don’t take credit cards (cash and nets only) - however the dishes are quite affordable (almost all under 10 dollars). The staff are friendly but not too overly friendly as this is not an upscale place. Everything we order so far (the dried chili chicken rice, lemon chicken rice, black pepper chicken rice, the beef horfun with egg and onion ginger rice) were all good. I personally love the dried chili rice and beef horfun with egg! Recommended for a quick and easy meal with not much hassle.

I stepped in to get a coffee and wasn’t too well versed in ‘kopi language’ and ordered a ‘yuan yang’ and the auntie started saying they don’t sell yuan yang. But which local coffee shop (moreover one who pride themselves to be one) doesn’t sell yuan yang? The auntie serving me started becoming impatient with me and was rude. There was a nets and credit card machine right in front of me, they also had posters of accepting ‘foodpanda pay’ but before I spoke my next words she interrupted with a ‘we only accept cash’ here. Every customer who walks in matter which hour deserves the best service because they might be your returning customer. I’m sorry, but if you hate your job please do not work in the service line.

No frills local zi char dining spot in Tanjong Pagar. The place and service is very casual.
