Ichi Tei

Ichi Tei is a small shop in Sunshine Plaza managed by an equally small team of maybe 2. But don’t be fooled by its small size. We had Saba with Udon Set ($11.50), Chicken Curry ($12), Hokkaido Scallop & Salmon Mentaiko ($16.50), Salmon Sashimi ($3) and Shiro Maguro ($3). For the Chicken Curry, the chicken has crispy skin and juicy meat. The curry was a bit salty. Overall, good but not outstanding. The Saba/Udon and Hokkaido Scallop & Salmon Mentaiko were exceptionally good for the price, especially the Saba. The Saba was huge and cooked to the right level. The best was the fresh Salmon Sashimi and Shiro Maguro. Overall, tasty food at affordable prices.

Excellent food!! You can really taste the love and effort the couple put in to make every dish. The prawns, fish and scallops were imported from japan, no wonder the ones we had were so sweet and fresh! Definitely recommend the hokkaido scallop salmon mentaiko aburi don. The lady boss even offered to help torch the prawn if we prefered it cooked instead of sashimi style. Would definitely come back again!

Very impressed by the salmon mentaiko (aburi) don. The bowl was full on smokey flavour paired with smooth and creamy salmon topped with furikake. Even the rice was flavoured with some dark soya sauce. The radish-salmon soup that came with it had a homely feel and the salad was very fresh! This amazing meal is within top3 of the food I’ve had out in 2021. Had it together with a cold green tea and all in all it was very affordable at $14.50. Will be back for more!

TLDR: Slightly above average ramen Order: Tonkotsu Ramen + Croquette Set Cost: $12 + 3 Walked pass the ramen store and always wondered why it’s empty. Decided to try it with my friend to support local business. We realised that it’s together with Ichi Tei, which is the parent store down the mall. The ramen noodles are okay, prefer it to be more al dente. Broth was flavourful but quite salty for ramen broths. The cha siu used was fatty and melt in the mouth; good quality. The croquette I got at the side is smooth, but after awhile it’s a little dense and dry; pairing it with the broth or the mayonnaise at the side is my go-to method. Overall it’s a decent store and ramen. It isn’t going to beat the quality of a specialised ramen store but if you want a good bowl of ramen, this will definitely satisfy you. The staffs were very nice too; lady refilled our drink even though it didn’t come with free refills.
