The place is always crowded, so thought the food was good. Ordered kaisen don for $16. Comes with miso soup and a mini chawanmushi. It was ok only. The place is non-air conditioned. So can get quite hot. And the traffic is heavy - human and cars. So people walking past will look at you and your food. I think for $16, teppei syokudo is more value for money.

Just average. There's free tea and pickles (read: self service) and the food are alright. I didn't like the seats that are weirdly placed along the corridor. And for the price you are paying for, you can get other Japanese restaurants around the Amoy / Boon Tat area with more comfort. The only plus side is there isn't any service charges added to your bill.

Best value for money for a Japanese lunch in the world! I go there at least once in a week. The salmon don (only 15$!) is so yummy and comes with free chawanmushi, miso soup and tea. The boss is Japanese so the food is authentic (I can confirm because I am half Japanese). Some posh people may not like it because it is outdoor with only fans. The atmosphere is rather relaxed and it is kinda half self service. So if you need smth more fancy then go to another expensive restaurant.
