Kingyo Izakaya

Went during Lunch and Food was pretty good. The butter garlic clams were excellent while the fried fish (can't remember the name as noone actually told me) was nicely done. The shirako in miso soup was pretty goodness too. Liked the mini sushi bites as well. The squid was tasty but a tad sweet due to the sauce. There was a appetizer (top shell) and dessert (Ice cream + fruits). Price point and food selection could have been a bit better I reckon. Ordered $100 omakase sushi to the waiteress but i guess there was some miscommunication and it was a mixed omakase which I did not mind. But $100 vs $125 at Shinji or high end sushiya for lunch omakase, which customer would be a repeat so one shld order al carte here if one is dining here.

Simple and no frills kind of Japanese place. Not really your typical izakaya given that menu is limited. But everything we ordered tasted really good. I love the fried garlic clams, the sauce was so good I can eat this simply with rice all the time. Beef with foie gras sauce and grilled chicken wings were amazing too. Will definitely come back here for the food again!

Ordinary Izakaya food, affordable for being in Telok Ayer street where price are usually very high. Sashimi were fresh and so the grilled fish which strangely for a Japanese food, the fish had bones! Atmosphere like, well nothing to do with a Japanese izakaya. Will probably go back when in the area for fresh sashimi. Not a fine dining place.
