I read about TFS Private Works while searching for interesting places to eat along Telok Ayer. The name was intriguing so I made a reservation for lunch. The restraint is located on the second floor and I must admit that I like the decor. The lunch set was a bit pricey and I didnt feel that it was value for money. The quality of the fish was good but not outstanding and the portions were quite small. If someone else foots the bill, I wouldn't mind revisiting.

5 of us were here for lunch. We waited 1.5 hours for food to be served. By 2pm, not all dishes were served yet and there was no time to eat, so some of us had to pack lunch back to office. When we informed the waitress that she should have let us know in advance that it'll be such a long wait, she rolled her eyes and said "SURE". The portions of the sashimi lunch sets were ridiculously meagre. We ordered 2x prawn tempura expecting them to be like the typical Japanese shrimp tempura but they turned out to be two tiny tiger prawns with little batter. It was unanimously one hugely unsatisfying meal, and service was non existent. It's a waste of both our time and money.

Japanese fine dine! They serve lunch and dinner set, freshly cooked in front of you. Each mea set will come with salad, appetizer, main course, soup, desert. The seating is bar style, where you can see the chef preparing your food. Typical Japanese restaurant setup. All staff are very friendly. You may consider coming in smaller group less than 5. I was there with a group of 10, the wait for each course to be ready is quite long. But it was still worthed. Must try: japanese taco, beef carpaccio, sushi set which is in their ala carte menu. Price range per person a set meal with no drinks (they serve infused water) between 35-50 SGD.

It was a late V Day dinner. We were really excited because we read so much good things about the flying squirrel. Perhaps we had high expectations but I was certainly let down by mediocre food. The starter dish hamachi (i hope i got the fish type right) with truffle and yuzu dressing was amazing. Everything else was just ordinary. We set at the counter and hoped for some interaction and banter with the chefs. They chefs hardly looked up, and even when we tried to engaged, the response was lukewarm. The food wasnt spectacular though the company was. At the end of the evening, after we paid by visa, we were told that if we indicated 'paying by Amex' at time of reservation, we would have gotten 20% off (we were not aware of this promotion). They could not tell us about the offer when we were paying as 'Amex does not allow them to promote the dining offer' but we are welcome to quote it on our next visit. So Amex runs promotions that they do not want their customers to know or is it just your sneaky way of getting customers to return? I am pretty sure the motive was the latter, and I'd have appreciated some honesty around it.
