J Bistro @ 45 Syed Alwi

Brought the family out for a weekend dinner. Read good reviews about this place and decided to try. We had trouble finding the place initially as it was hidden behind renovation covers. Place was rather empty when we arrived and I was a little worried since there was only one other table. Turns out the worry was misplaced as the family was happy with the taste and portions of the meals. The steak, pastas and side dishes were delicious and well presented. Kudos to the restaurant for keeping up the good job despite a slow Saturday evening. We almost had the whole restaurant to ourselves and truly enjoyed the experience! Pasta bolognese. I seldom like bolognese as most places have an overwhelming tomato paste taste which I don’t quite favour. This bolognese was really well executed, nicely balanced and served with generous fresh cherry tomatoes. 👍 Best dish was the mushroom alio oglio. Only problem was the added bacon was tough. Overall taste however was a really delicious pasta Pasta carbonara. Another very well executed carbonara pasta. It’s not often one gets the arugula and raw egg served with the carbonara. It does add to the presentation. Tastes great

The Cabonara was amazing! Loved it. Went on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Service was a little slow but that’s ok as there was only 1 person working. The chicken thigh burger was okay. The salted egg sauce for the pasta was very flavourful except It didn’t rlly go well w spaghetti but we ordered knowing it comes w spaghetti just to try ! Overall a very nice place w good food
