Pepper Lunch - Amk Hub

Located just beside Subway on L1 of AMK Hub, right behind the row of shops at the end of the interchange. The last I been here was many years ago. Taste-wise, don't rmb much difference. But was quite oil as I remembered it. Something new was the pasta menu which seems creative. The staff also help you to take the sauce separately. We used to have it by the table and can choose the condiments we want but I guess Covid :( Order at the counter before getting a seat for dining in. They will give you a pager and the staff serves it to you - no service charge. Food was also slightly salty as I had expected it. But once in a while right? It was nearing closing time but they were still serving customers - kudos for that. The staff had to go to each table to tell them that they are closing soon. I guess they want to go home on time. Who doesn't?

Located inside Ang Mo Kio Hub. Firstly, the missing star was that a staff told me that I could not take photos of the store. A bit strange by her request. Then when I checked with the staff at the cashier area. She gave me the green light to take photos. Not sure why was there such a confusion. Back to the review, location was good, located near the entrance opposite the coffee shop. Ample seating places. Even with the covid measures, still considered easy to arrange for seatings for up to 5 pax. Price wise was reasonable. Though we were “cooking” our own food, it was an experience to do so. So we had to pay for the experience. Wide range of food to order, from rice set to pasta set. Taste was great! Had to be so, since I cooked it. Haha… couldn’t and shouldn’t complain about the food being too salty or bland since I could control the amount of gravy and sauce to be added. Service wise was fast. I counted at least 6 staffs. That was a lot of employees for a store of this size. Maybe that was why the staff had the spare capacity to take notice of me, taking photos. Other places, the employees were overworked and stretched to bother about me. In summary, recommended place to go to! PS: Not sure of the material the “teppan” was made of. A good conductor of heat. And not as heavy as the cast iron that I used at home.

Hopped into this Pepper Lunch outlet over the weekend. It’s been in the mall for ages! Happy to see it is going strong. Ordered a beef Aglio Olio and a steak for dinner. Beef was good, of course you had to be careful not to overcook it. Portion is right sized too. The seasoning given was great, brought out the flavour of the food well. Staff is really friendly and patient too. Will be back to try other dishes!
