Hong Kong Street Restaurant

Craving for some Sam Lo Hor Fun, headed to Hong Kong Street Chun Kee, located at Alexandra Village. Located within a coffeeshop, this well-known Zhi Char stall has a steady stream of customers without the crowds of ultra popular places. Ordered a serving of Fish Fillet Bee Hoon and a serving of Fish Head Bee Hoon. The Fish Fillet meat while firm lacked wok hei. However, the Fish Head was extremely tasty and had excellent Wok Hei. This difference in 2 similar dish shows the inconsistency of the kitchen. At least the Soup and Bee Hoon was yummy. Added a serving of Country Bumpkin Beancurd which had a nicely pan-fried Tofu with a wonderful gravy and vegetables. A delicious dish but a little pricey. After the above, realise that the main aim of the visit was forgotten but by then the stomach was sated. May return at another time to try the Sam Lo Hor Fun. Chanced upon this HK Street ZiChar. Very pleasantly surprised with the tasty dishes. The White BeeHoon which was not in the menu was very solid in the Wok Hei, but in a soupier version. The Har Cheong Gai was also very umami with shrimp paste. The claypot tofu was just normal, a little tasteless. Rest of the dishes were on point.
