Hup Hong Chicken Rice

One of the best chicken rice in Jurong area. Their chicken is one of the freshest and rice is also very well cooked, fragrant & not oily. The chilli is above average with a nice hint of garlic taste. The cabbage soup helps to clean down the garlic taste from the rice and chilli. But the main draw for me is the a-char. It tastes so refreshing, not too sour nor sweet but just nice, that makes you want to ask for more. Usually a queue forms before lunch time with ~15mins wait. Definitely a must eat when at Yuhua hawker.

You can’t miss the stall because they have the longest queue in the food centre. Decided to join in the check out what the hype is about. I waited for almost 15mins before it was my turn. Order the roasted chicken with an additional braised egg for SGD$3.50. The rice was the highlight of the entire dish for me. It was fragrant and has a good texture. The meat was average, had better roast chicken elsewhere. Chilli was good as well, spicy and tangy, love the archar that comes along with the chicken rice as well. Overall, it’s a decent plate of chicken rice but I don’t think its worth queuing for me.

One of the more popular chicken rice stalls with long queues. Good price portion ratio. Each grain of rice enveloped with oil, well cooked and favorful. Chicken skin smooth with meat moist. Chili sauce added much balance for meat and rice combo to elevate taste. Will return to try more popular roast chicken next round.

$4.50 for roast chicken and roast pork serving for one person Soup is light with some cabbage which was nice. Rice very fragrant and firm texture. Chicken was soft and juicy. Very good taste. Must try if in the area. Do be prepared for a bit of a q during lunch. But they are fast. So you would not have to wait too long.

So far the best chicken rice I had in Singapore. At least for the white chicken (normally I only take the white when trying the chicken rice stall). Definitely can beat the big names like TianTian, Boon Tong Kee ... A good taste balance between the meat and the rice plus the yummy chili source at a very reasonable price ($3 per set) 😍
