Pepper Lunch - Hougang Mall

Have not eaten this in years, probably 8 years. $11.90 for the basic sliced beef pepper lunch, the portion is way too little. The meat slices are extremely little. The prices have increased over time and the portion have shrunk. Probably won’t eat here again. See you in another 10 years. Located in the basement of Hougang Mall, it can get crowded during lunch time with limited seatings due to safe distancing. Best to go early like 1145am.

Food is delicious, but u need to cook it fast while the plate is still hot. But there is TERRIBLE auntie staff, who spoil my appetite, making me feel like packing the food and go off. The restaurant stated opened till 2200hrs, but she told us can dine in until 2130hrs. After the food is served, about 10 mins later, she keeps walking up my table and looking. And when we just put down our cutlery, she will faster come and ask still want or not. We haven't even finish eating our food and the time is not up yet. If u think 2200hrs is your knock off time, then don't state the closing time at 2200hrs, make it a bit earlier. When my friend just ate finished earlier than me, she immediately came to ask can clear away? Is this hawker centre style or a restaurant? Even coffeeshop or hawker centre also don't come clear so fast. It's very RUDE. Cannot wait for both of us the eat finish then clear the table 1 shot. Just 2 hotplate and 2 paper cups only, very difficult? If a lot of things, i understand. Really HATE this kind of dining experience...! It feels like being chase to eat fast. Don't think i will go back there again. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Price is a lil steep for the portion given but the food is usually good. My bf is an american and he loves the concept of the hotplate and has been a fan ever since i brought him here. He demands me to bring him here for pepper lunch whenever he visits XD Staffs here are friendly and attentive. I only wish they could do away with the covid dine in restrictions so the place wouldn't be so full all the time or at least look crowded. I think they have removed the QR code orders but when we came last week vs today, ordering over the counter, it seems like you have more options when you order over the counter. I could be wrong but i don't come here often enough to know the difference. Anyway, food is good, portion for that price is slightly steep and staffs are quick, polite and very attentive. No real complaints here. ^^

NZ Steak combo ⭐⭐⭐ $23.90 cw drink. Eaten rare or fully cooked is a tad tough. Sizable portion for this price. Sauce unable to freely add, given only a tiny disposable saucer for one type of sauce. Was served to the table. Needed to ask for the other type of sauce and it was terrible if you needed to cook the rice with the sauce. Couldn't eat the way i wanted it to be and tasted somewhat different. Disappointing for the lack of access to the sauces. Don't overdo the Hygiene part by removing table condiments, just because you can save a cent or two. Compared to Tokyo Bay Pepper Lunch branch, its a huge disappointment. On its own ⭐⭐⭐. Overall ⭐⭐⭐ this round.

Finally able to dine in our 1st Pepper lunch @Hougang Mall after twice failed due to long Q. This time was at the restaurant at 11.00am. The place is small & cosy, staff very friendly & place is clean and neat. - Restaurant: environment clean 5/5 ‐ Service: friendly & speedy 4/5 - Price: justifiable 4/5 ‐ Food quality: fresh & tasty 5/5 Overall rating 4.5. The quality of Beef Ribeye meat was fresh & tender. Awesome food!!
