Yong Fu Restaurant

This is a great little hidden gem of a local noodle store. Although the signage says ‘Yong Fu’ on the outside, fishball noodle restaurant is actually called ‘Boons’. It’s unassuming from the outside but quite charming once inside. They offer a simple array of local noodle dishes. I went for the mushroom minced pork noodle. It came with a tasty seaweed soup that was a nice balance for the spice in the noodles. The noodles themselves were springy and cooked just right. The noodles were mixed with a chilly sauce which was not too oily and chilly enough to give the dish a nice kick. The mushrooms were soft and flavourful and the accompanying meats were all cooked well, so the flavour stood out. There was sliced pork, minced pork, liver, wantons and two pork balls, so for only $5 dollars this was a hearty and delicious meal. I will definitely be back for more and would recommend it.

Decided to try it because our lunch spot was unfortunately closed, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of the food. Not the cheapest bowl of bak chor mee, but for the price, it leaves you satisfied and doesn't feel like a rip off. Not the best I've had, but ranks above average. Chilli was good, had some kick. Will be back.
