Gong Yuan Mala Tang

Very slow service - There was no queue on a Saturday afternoon. However, due to the COVID measures, I have to wait for like 10 mins before I can choose the ingredients. A table by table strategy. Not a good strategy for the type of business they are. It then took them 15 mins to cook the dish. Food wise: 1) ingredients are fresh and with a good variety 2) I ordered Mala base but the soup taste no where near Mala. Buy taste wise as a normal bone soup, it is nice. 2) For the portion I had, it was $11.15 with only a sausage only and all vegetables. Expensive from my perspective.

Slight queue during dinner time but guest turnover is quite fast. Standard $2.88 per 100 gm for meat and everything. Chose mala small spicy without rice. Around 15mins wait for the food to be ready and the soup was delicious. My only disappointment is that gongyuan doesn’t include dipping sauce like it’s competitor (“Mr Yang”). Will definitely be back for other soup base.

I’ve tried this many years ago when it first opened at Suntec city and wasn’t impressed. Finally decided to give it another try today. I ordered the tomato soup, and somehow my bowl added up to $18?? Kinda pricey and not worth it to be honest. Firstly, the soup tasted super bland and was watery. Just think the thinnest, most watery, tasteless tomato soup. The bamboo was so woody I couldn’t bite through it. The leafy vegetable stem was also somehow hard and woody. I’m never returning here again. Would not recommend 👎

Food actually is okay however the price is too expensive, charge my weight regardless if it's meat or vegetable. We ordered mainly veg like potato and bamboo shoot so price becomes very expensive. Price for 2 people is $50+ and it's 80% vegetable. I think vegetable and meat should be charge differently.
