Solvang Restaurant

My family has been stopping in here for more than 50 years! It has a coffee shop vibe with a danish bakery flair. This is the place to go to get the famous “Abelskiver” dessert with raspberry jam. The coffee is good and the servers are friendly. If you don’t want to dine in they have an outside order window to get dessert to go.

I went here with my husband and daughter. This place had great waitresses. The bathrooms were spotless…I felt very comfortable. But I may forgot to lock my bathroom door.. so it slowly became ajar. Luckily my daughter was nearby to give me a hand, and shut my door. Anyway back to my food review,… my burger was delightful! The crunch of the lettuce just took me back to my childhood. My husband got the open face sandwich platter… and man was it good!!!! My daughter (age 39) got the ham and cheese croissant, and had no complaints. We will definitely be returning to this great little restaurant.

Aebleskiver are a delicacy, supposedly invented by some Dane back in history. They are like a waffle or a pancake formed like a tennis ball. The name makes people believe that there are slices of apples inside, which is correct — if you put apple slices inside! You see, everybody, including me, has their own favorite recipe and way of serving them, all depending from where in Denmark the recipe came from. Chicken and Waffles Avocado Benedict

Awesome authentic decor.... I hope they NEVER CHANGE! Too many places have gotten rid of the traditional decor, and they are not nearly as cool now. People come to Solvang for places like this, just as it is. As of July 2022, still has this look. 👌 Food is fine. The Aebleskivers are a must. The waitress even brought me some strawberries for my baby. Such nice staff, even when busy. And they are busy! Go early.

A classic Danish restaurant with a mix of Danish and American favorites (I enjoyed the Party Melt!) We've been there several times over our 40+ years on the Central Coast, but the experience of sitting in the front window seat was a welcomed surprise. The service was absolutely the BEST! You won't regret adding a meal to their famous awbelskiver dessert balls.

We got the German bratwurst, fried chicken, danish meatballs, eggplant sandwich, and danish pancakes (Aebleskiver). The first chicken was good (can’t really go wrong with that). The meatballs were alright + so was the eggplant sandwich (it had quite a bit of cheese). The sauerkraut did not taste good tbh I could only do one bite of that. The gravy on the mashed potatoes for the bratwurst tasted off and I could only eat one of the sausages (with a bunch of ketchup and mustard) before I couldn’t finish it bc of the taste. It was somehow flavorless but also had a weird taste to it. If you want sausage, I’d highly recommend going to the Copenhagen sausage garden nearby instead.

One of my favorite breakfast/brunch restaurants in Solvang. The food is delicious and the service is fast. We came in on a Sunday around 12:30 and even though we arrived during rush hour and there was a waiting list, we were shown to our table in less than 10 minutes and we were served our food in another 10. If you visit Solvang, even if you don't eat here, you need to enjoy their æbleskievers. They're a must have!
