Original review (see end for update) Who charges £10 upwards for a jacket potato, over £16 in one case? We went before covid and prices and food were reasonable, now it seems like they have nearly doubled in some cases. A panini £8? We had takeaway paninis and jackets but way overpriced. I know everyone is feeling the pinch, but I fear you are a little delusional! £8 for eggs or beans on toast! Definitely need to look at the pricing, unfortunately this is turning custom away. I just stood outside at 2pm on a Sunday and there was only 1 person inside having a drink. Surely this should be a busy time..... costa is heaving! Just trying to give helpful feedback as we now can't afford to go into somewhere that was previously reasonable. I also agree with the strange customer service, but we didn't let this worry us before as it was a reasonable relaxed place to get a bite. Please have a rethink. ....Update (1 month later - mid Aug 22)... they have reviewed the pricing. It is much more reasonable. Thank you for listening. Had some takeaway today. Review score amended.

Love this restaurant, I do not live local but go to the bay with my daughter. Have always enjoyed my visits, the interior is charming & very comfortable, The staff lovely.There is a big selection of food, which is great. They have just started to serve a mini afternoon tea which is very enjoyable at a fantastic price.do visit & enjoy!!!

It's just like stepping into one of Bert's paintings with Mary Poppins once you venture in! ❤️ The sandwiches are so delicious I went back again today for more. Highly recommend the smoked salmon and cream cheese on granary! The drinks menu caters for whatever you fancy and the Illy coffee is delicious. This is a wonderful place and I am looking forward to my next visit.

One of loveliest places to eat in Southend! My partner and I regularly frequent The Bay Botanical and every time we do it gets better and better. Not only are the waffles exceptional (I would highly recommend the double waffles with milk chocolate, strawberries and chocolate sauce), but the service is always warm and friendly. Truly a gem of Thorpe Bay!
