Sugar And Spice

I cannot remember my first visit to the Sugar N Spice, perhaps it was fifty years ago, give or take a year or two. Stepping through the door is like crossing the threshold to a past reality, a great many memories of good times past. While the place is thoroughly modern and clean, it is tastefully nostalgic. The food is just like it has always been, very good, and consistently so. Chili Cheese with mustard and onions, fries; and hot fudge cake, like nothing else, anywhere. The souvlaki is tender and spiced just so, and the baklava is a great finish. Or try anything with grilled chicken, its awesome.

Take a step back in time to the 60's ( because they never remodeled the place) to this Spartanburg S.C. landmark. The only thing to change is their prices! I visit every now and then for their double skewer souvlaki plate. It is the most expensive thing on their menu by far but the meat is the most tastiest beef you will put in your mouth. For what you see in this picture I paid almost $22 which is pretty sky high and the only reason I can't give them 5 stars.

A lot of pluses / good points for this restaurant. 1st , Very cool decor. 2nd, Staff was very friendly & restaurant was clean. 3rd they don't have ketchup on the tables but my order came with Plenty of ketchup. I didn't have to ask for any, & My burger was cut in half. I like that. And it was absolutely cooked perfect And Delicious. And the fries were seasoned perfectly , best fries I've had Anywhere on a long time. 4th napkins were at the table . I hate having to ask wait staff for more napkins. The only bad remark I can give is the chocolate pie is too creamy for my taste. And no salt and pepper , ketchup on the table. But they do have salt & pepper packs at the register
