Thai Square St Albans

If I could give Thai Square 10 stars I would! My wife and I had our wedding reception here, and from day 1 of organising Ken and his staff were beyond helpful in every way possible, ensuring all arrangements were taken care of, allowing us flexibility for arranging furniture and tables, decorating and then on the day truly felt like they were part of our guest list - mingling with our guests, having a laugh with everyone and above all ensuring stellar service. The set menu was easy to understand, and it was all so affordable at such high quality. We truly couldn't have wished for a better reception - the atmosphere, food, drink and service was beyond measure in our eyes. Thank you Thai Square for giving us the happiest evening of our lives, anyone would be lucky to host their wedding reception here.

This restaurant was the definition of perfection. Came here with my partner to celebrate my 30th. We came across the most stunning tudor building and just had to go inside. We were very warmly greeted and shown to a table. Promptly served, we had the vegetarian sharing starter and it was so fresh and well cooked. We enjoyed every bite! This had tempura veg, spring rolls, satay and corn cakes. Lots to eat and very reasonably priced at about £17, more than enough for the 2 of us. For my main, I had the vegetable green curry and egg fried rice. it was amazing! Nice big portions and left very full. 10/10 would recommend.

I enjoyed my meal at Thai Square and would give it a 10/10 as far as the tastiness of the food. I had a mixed starter which I shared with a friend and the Drunken Noodles as my main. I asked for the Drunken Noodles to be made extra spicy and it was perfect. My only complaint was that I felt the portion was a tad small. I enjoyed my Drunken Noodles so much that I ordered some to take home and it didn’t fill the entire container. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the food. The service was ok and the general ambience of the restaurant was nice.

Some parts of this imposing Grade II* Listed Building date back to circa 1400 - so although it’s sad that it’s no longer the Tudor Tavern, I’m guessing that they simply couldn’t afford the upkeep. The current owners clearly can - goodness knows how much the refit cost but it was beautifully done. Although it’s a chain, Thai Square serves good quality food and the ambiance and service is lovely. Not quite as authentic as Thailand, and considerably more expensive - but I think it’s better than its two Thai neighbouring restaurants.

The food here is really good and reasonably priced. I would be a little wary of the spice warnings as my medium spiced dish was really spicy. This isn’t a Nando’s spice scale! The building and atmosphere of the restaurant is beautiful as well with beams and a candlelit interior. Lovely date night location.

It was a spontaneous choice as we went past the restaurant and the decor was what brought us in. As you walk into the restaurant there is a authentic Thai feel with status and decorations from the East. The waiter and waitresses were all well presented and very polite, and the me food was up to the level of what should be expected from such a restaurant. I would definitely recommend the establishment if your after good Thai food without breaking the bank!
