Mashawi Lebanese Kabob

LEBANON 🇱🇧 Eat the World NYC review: Recently Mashawi changed its name slightly so that "Lebanese Kabob" was replaced simply with "Grill" and "Mediterranean & Conscious Kitchen" added underneath. What this means in practice is that the focus has shifted a bit away from, ironically; mashawi, which is an Arabic term for anything you can grill or barbecue. Technically this can include vegetables but it is usually taken to be meats. The restaurant has always had a long list of fresh smoothies and juices and this looks to keep getting bigger as they focus more on health. But meat lovers and cholesterol addicts don't let this all scare you, it is easy to put together a nice Lebanese meal here no matter what your desires. The daily special plates seem to have disappeared, but the array of mezze and kabobs is still alive and well. In the mood for shawerma but hesitant to order it because no spit was in sight, a closer look at the menu reveals they grill this and other sandwich meats on a charcoal grill. As you can imagine this method of preparation fits the healthy model, but it was intriguing nonetheless. A charcoal grilled chicken shawerma wrap ($7) comes served nicely with both a spicy pepper oil and a garlicky tahini. While the fat drippings from the spit were certainly missed, the sandwich is good in its own respect. Washed down with the excellent fresh lemonade ($5) made with mint, watermelon, and pomegranate, rejuvenation was eminent.

Disappointed. The item I ordered (the whole grilled chicken at $17.99+tax) was not available. Substitute chicken shawarma that they offered (Large $15.99+tax and Small $12.99+tax) actually included only a few tiny pieces of dry chicken (definatelly, a small size) were not worth the price that I paid originally. Even though my huge dissapoinment, the restaurant refused to refund and take the food back. Will never order again and DO NOT RECOMMEND this place. In addition, the restaurant stated that the substitute meal was the same price, which I couldn’t verify at the time they called me. When I checked the prices later on and I added them above in this review, I was disappointed even more, because the price was not the same and they have never even bother to contact Grubhub for price adjustment. Be aware.

Ate here a few time since they opend. The food is always fresh authentic and satisfying. Service is great so as the delivery service the mahalabia (desert)is to die for and they do catering I'm using them this coming weekend. And just so you know it's not only the best on the Island but the best period the owner Mouein (Mike) used to own some of the best mid eastern eateries in Manhattan.

They were over two hours late with the delivery. So once I called I had asked what was taking so long to only have them tell me that the order was cancelled because the driver canceled it himself without informing me. I asked for my money back and only got shouted at. The owner was extremely vulgar and rude. Response to owner- It’s not fake at all though. I can even show you the fact the driver canceled the order.

Absolutely irredeemable customer service. I ordered from this restaurant on Grubhub. Within about 20 minutes of the order, which was to have taken less than an hour, they called to ask me if it would be okay if they were 35 minutes late. I agreed that it would be fine. Approximately 15 minutes after the time they told me and about an hour after they were supposed to have delivered it in the first place, I got a call telling me they were cancelling my order. What was worse is they didn't even have the courtesy to tell me. They called Grubhub and had Grubhub tell me, like children. I didn't try their food, but if the care they put into their customer service is at all like the care they put into preparing their food, I am glad I didn't.
