Penshaw Tea Rooms

Homemade chunky vegetable soup with cheese stottie was filling and delicious. Arrived around 12 noon and had to wait approximately 15 minutes for a seat. Staff were checking line to see if any customer needed a seat and provided one if they did. Lots of homemade pies and quiches on offer. Reasonable price for quality food. Also onsite bakery, Butchers and vegetable shops. A little pricey but you have to pay for quality. Staff very helpful.

Update: Been again and it was very good. Got the same with a bit cheesecake. Extra star added. I went for a breakfast. A bit of a queue due to how popular it is (can't be helped). They offer chairs for less abled people. I ordered a pot of tea with it. The pot of tea took a long time to get to me and then I was asked if I would move to a different table? I think it was due to the table being able to handle 3 people. When I moved they gave me 2 cheese scones for my trouble. The breakfast was really good with high quality items. It had everything on it you would expect. The best I have had in the Sunderland area. The price wasn't to bad either in comparison to other prices in Sunderland area. On the way out I noticed they did an amazing looking lamb and mint pie. I popped to there bakery and got some for later. After reheating in the oven it still tasted amazing. The place had a lovely atmosphere with helpful staff.

We visited recently after family recommended we go. What a fab place, we were well impressed. Good quality farm produce, lovely friendly staff. 😊 Bakery shop: Gorgeous with the best of cakes, buns, pies 🥧 😋 fab. Generous portions. Butchers shop ... Wow !!! Such first class quality, lean produce overall, can't fault it. Such a treat to find. Helpful and polite staff too. A relaxed friendly vibe. A little history available on 🐄 cows and their milking process and how much milk they can produce etc. Lots of varied flavoured milk to try and buy too. 😋 You can buy your finest fruit and veg, lovely huge tomotoes on the vine. Plants and flowers are also for sale. The TEA ROOMS: This was the best surprise ever, there are the wonderful relaxed tea rooms too. Indoors or outdoor seating areas. Home cooking with star quality, 🌟 at its best. My steak pie ... .... OMG. Then the chocolate cake. 😋 Yum. Definitely would recommend 👍 !! The tea rooms are very popular long queues on Bank Holidays, but well managed. Definitely worth the wait. !! Plenty car parking available. All flat for disabled parking and toilet access.

One of the best Full English breakfasts you can get in Sunderland. Thick bacon, quality sausage, perfect sized black pudding, proper home made hash brown, thick white toast and perfectly poached egg (with no raw whites which you see a lot of). For £8.95 it's a great option. Would definitely come back.
