Wattle Park Cakes

Strolled past this bakery taking care of some business. Spent about$16 bucks and came away with a decent selection of cakes (Walnut & Date, Continental Vanilla Slice, Frangipani Slice, Cheese Cake). The cakes were quite nice. The cheese cake a little plain but the Continental Vanilla Slice, was out of this world (and worth the stop).

The food is lovely but the service is far from. I understand that due to covid, only 2 people are allowed in the shop, however I am a disability support worker and was with my client, whom I need to stay with. The blonde lady who served us was extremely rude. I explained to her that I’m her support worker and that I need to stay with my client, to which she said “still only two people”. I continued to state that I have to stay with her, she then scoffed and said “we’ll stand over there then”. You’re lucky enough to have business right now, so don’t treat your paying customers with such disrespect.

This place is stuck in the 20th century with baked good I would expect in the 80s. Also 50 cent surcharge for tapping to pay under $10 is not fair. So a Shephard's pie ends up costing $6.40. There are solutions like Live EFTPOS, you don't have to pass along 50 cent surcharges anymore, if you do some basic research on the latest tap and go machines.

Memorable service with a smile. Favourite among locals & destination for many who go out of their way for their traditional lunch rolls, sandwiches, bread, cakes, hot pastries. ‘Sponge’ birthday cakes made to order. Nothing is too much trouble. Kinda old fashioned, but won’t disappoint if that’s what you love.

I’m moving away after only six months in the area and I think other than the beautiful park across the road the thing I’ll miss is the Bakery. Great friendly staff and as an ex pastry chef (being a tough critic) the BEST pies I’ve ever had. Their Steak & Bacon or Chicken would win any contest, AMAZING! The cakes are old school the way a local bakery should make. Vanilla slice is perfect and caramel slice OMG I have to use self control lol. Keep up the great work and I’ll be dropping in every time I’m in the area. Thanks for the great service.
