Steel Bar And Grill

Steel Bar and Grill is in an excellent location of the CBD, right near central station. Outdoor seating on the deck, tables and booths inside. It is sophisticated and classy in its styling and would be great for a date, business meetings or a friends catch-up. They also inform us they do a $5 drink for happy hour everyday 5-7. We were there on this occasion for the $55 Sydney festival eats. It is a great deal - you get two courses with 2 wines (white sav blanc or a red). I got an entree and main and my dinner guest had a main and dessert. I got the nicely fried zucchini flowers filled with ricotta, truffle, preserved lemon and vino cotto. These were lovely. I then had the sirloin and thick cut chips. It also came with a salad for a side. My dinner guest had the gnocchi, beautifully soft little parcels of parmesan with carrot purée, artichoke, silver beet and lemon labne. The desert was also great - it was a chocolate deluxe with chocolate mousse, chocolate glaze and chocolate crumble - soft and with the right amount of crunch. The manager and wait staff were also excellent and an appropriate time waiting for our meals. Great deal before seeing a show.

EXCELLENT SERVICE! Went to Steel for a meal last week and had a wonderful evening. The food was superb, I had one of the nicest steaks I've had in Sydney. The restaurant is very clean and well laid out with good lighting. I can not fault the service. The manager Vlad was extremely welcoming and obliging. All wait staff seemed to have the same high level of customer service, I noticed quite a few engaging in conversation with their guests. We did not have to wait too long for our food to arrive either! All in all a great spot for a meal. Will definitely return in the future.

One of the best steaks I have had - anywhere - ever. Wine list is excellent and the wait staff know every wine on the list well enough to advise to my tastes. The food service is a great example of what it can be - when people in the business really want to be in the business and actually like to make people (customers) happy. Many congratulations - back for lunch this week! (I do not work for or have any relationship with Steel - it's management or employees in case you are wondering - but am a 'foodie')

The service at lunch time is really good and there always seems to be a place to sit which is nice. The steaks are great and always cooked to perfection. The gem with this place during the day is the little Steel Espresso cafe they have around the corner - the staff are attentive and the coffee is out of this world. I hit it up at least once per day.
