Ichiban Boshi

One of the nice ramen bowls in Sydney city. It’s not the best ramen in Sydney, but worth a try. Ichi-ban boshi has been around for a while and they offer a wide range of ramen bowls. I had Tokyo ramen and chashu ramen. I always find their ramen a bit salty and not as refined as the top ramen joints in Sydney. It’s a good spot to catch up with friends and family. For these reasons I give this place 3 bears

A small affordable place for Japanese meals. During peak hours, especially lunch time, there can be a slight wait time for a table but nothing too long. Quick service with their electronic iPads. A nice selection of dishes and drinks. I personally prefer their curry rice dishes rather than the ramen. The prices are reasonable but due to inflation it seems like they have raised the prices which is understanding. I ordered the Takoyaki entree, ramen, Pork tonkatsu and drink - where the total was close to $70. Definitely will come back.

Such bad service. Long queue waiting but there are so many available tables inside. The waitress doesn't take us to any table for 15 mins until lots of us complain. The waiter named Rudy broke glasses while carrying a plate and nearly hurtes the customer. He just launched and did not apologize to the customer. I could hear spoon dropping from the kitchen. The worst service. Everything is so chaotic. The noodle so is ok quality. I won't be back.

Avoid if you're looking for a well-rounded vegetarian meal. You will be charged the same as a meat-eater but have no protein substitute, unless you pay extra for edamame. The menu has a vegetarian section but the menu photos look like they have roast pork on them (strike 1). Staff are near impossible to flag down as they expect you to only use the tablet for ordering and only come by to take the tablet (strike 2). If you have any questions, definitely go to the counter. Instead of providing a vegetarian protein substitute, they take out the roast pork and charge you the same price (in June 2022 it was $17.90 for the very hot ramen). If I wanted to add more pork it would cost $6 extra, which is the amount that I was overcharged (strike 3). They made no offer to provide protein or reduce the price, but did say "sorry". There is often a wait to get a table but at least people looking for a vegetarian meal won't need to bother joining the queue. Check out the other restaurants one level down, like another Japanese restaurant (YAYOI) or burgers at Grill'd.

Haven't been here for many years. I had chicken karaage curry rice with cheese. I had the chicken karaage at few restaurants recent, none of them was good except here. The chicken is crispy still tender inside and juicy. I was worried the chicken may not be nice as here specialise in ramen. Yummmm Very big serve
