The Duke Of Clarence

Have been to "The Duke" a few times for drinks but this was the first time I'd enjoyed their Sunday lunch and what a treat it was. This is as good as any roast you'd get in the UK, if not better! Portions are generous and super, super tasty! The whole place was packed - highly recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment - and despite being super busy, staff were friendly and attentive and service was great. The apple crumble with it's pastry base, apple topping and sprinkling of crumble was a bit unconventional and underwhelming but the mains more than made up for it.

Wow, what a great surprise. This is a very English pub and real quality food. An amazing and enthusiastic team here made our evening perfect. Despite the COVID ghost town Sydney has turned into this place is still very "Keep Calm and Carry On". Roast beef, yorkies, amazing fresh veges. Good beers. Great whisky list. Thanks to the stoic team on a wet and miserable Sydney night.

Always enjoying visiting The Duke of Clarence. Love the Georgian Style English pub theme. Loads of attention to detail, down to the oak panelling and Burlington bathroomware. There's a great selection of drinks, especially gins. The Sunday roasts are really tasty and desserts are also great. Try the apple crumble. The staff are very good too.

Went here on a whim. Was actually wanting to go to another bar. Walked in and loved the vibe - English bar with books and booths. Was seated quickly by friendly staff who made some tasty drink suggestions. Later on had a whisky tasting paddle thanks to Jackson. He curated the whisky choices and none disappointed. Happily coming back here.

I normally don't write reviews but here's it goes: If you're looking for a warm, atmospheric bar then they've got the vibe spot on. However, the staff are not as warm... We tried asking for some serviettes, only to be shushed by the bartender, so she and some loud ex employee (who wouldn't stop talking by the way, truly a talented individual) could catch up. The bartender then went on to "show something cool" to the guy. Okay, we just want some serviettes like, seriously? Anyways, after 20 minutes of show and tell, they finally came around. Like this is a restaurant, serve your customers first before starting a podcast. Who knows, maybe getting ignored adds to the flavour of the food, which was most certainly...bland. Look if the food was bomb, then sure, it balances out the questionable experience. Unfortunately that was not the case. I ordered the fish and chips and my friend ordered the steak. Both was meh, with some of the chips being more rock hard than Johnny Depp's testimony against Amber Heard. But hey, if you're a friend of the pub, then you might get the special treatment, plus the bartender gets a free 20 minute break from serving customers! Win win. 🥳 TDLR; Food was bland, staff (bartender) was unprofessional.
