Little Evie Cafe

This morning I returned to my favourite local back when I lived in Redfern over 3 years ago and I was not disappointed. This family-owned cafe has friendly & attentive service, a nice atmosphere and tasty, beautifully plated food. I tried the French toast from the new menu today and my friend had the homemade banana bread, both delicious! I would also recommend the teapot of spice chai or freshly made watermelon juice - yum!

I was informed that this cafe roasts their own beans inhouse. I was excited to try the brew and have a little spot of breakfast. Invited my coffee connoisseur tester to join me this morning. After the heavy rain cleared by 8.00 am, we arrived anticipating a nice hot cup. A single brew of South American beaned, long black filtered for me, and a cappuccino for my connoisseur. We both thought the coffees were exceptionally smooth in taste. It was subtle, fruity and not too acidic. A perfect start until two orders of French toast, ricotta, grilled banana, strawberries, berries, caramel cream and some crumble appeared before us. Finished off with a drizzle of sweet, sticky maple syrup on top. I can't remember the last time I had French toast. It brought back memories of having a morning buffet overseas at a resort in Thailand. Today's meal served by a friendly, knowledgeable waitress was perfect. Simply can't fault it. Perhaps, the early bird really does catch the worm...

Usually all i expect is cafes to honour the reservation and good service and food at a bare minimum, these guys went aboge and beyond that. Exceptionally lovely staff, a warm welcome and fresh and tasty food and decent sizes. Thanks for having our group so early and being so accommodating. Dimitri was lovely and gave us a run down of the story of Little Evie, where they source their produce and had some tasty recommendations. I was definitely blown away. A great start to my weekend. We will definitely be back Dimitri and Sabrina.
