Mosaic Restaurant

Went here with two other friends on a weekday's night, this restaurant belongs to the Westin hotel. Totally love the restaurant design and the open area. The service was to the standard, especially the Mexican girl (the supervisor) was super friendly and took good care of our table. I ordered the King Salmon, was so good the salmon was very tender. And all my friends have finished all their food, they liked that a lot. The lighting was romantic, so would be a great place for a date night. The price was a fine-dining price, the salmon was around $30. We ordered 3 main courses, 2 sides ,1 salad ,total was $100+

There is no denying the food at Mosaic was worth eating and the wait staff were very attentive, friendly and professional. The ambience of the mezzanine style eating area that looks up to the clock of the GPO and across to the other floors of the Westln (Marriott) Hotel was pleasant. But for the portion size on the plate, some of the components are not worth writing on the menu. For entree, the seared scallops, with beetroot ginger puree, purple tapioca and salmon roe, were tasty but very tough. The scrape of ginger puree on the plate looked more like someone had dropped something and unsuccessfully wiped it clean. Pan seared duck breast (with port purple cabbage puree, brussel sprouts) was succulent and paired with Cape Barren "Native Goose" Shiraz from McLaren Vale made for a fine dining experience. I had to pass on dessert as they filled me up with soughdough bread with butter/olive oil before the entree (not that i had ordered it, the wait staff must have thought I looked hungry),

Reasonably priced food and so very delicious. We had the lunch set and everything was lovely. The vegetable gratin was cheesy and the meat was delightful. Even the salad tasted great. The coconut dessert was a wonderful surprise as well. I can say that for $39 you would surely get your money's worth especially for prices here in the city. The atmosphere is beautiful and the staff were knowldgeable and friendly.
