I Chi Ban Teppan-yaki Japanese Bbq

Fine dining price with hawkers experience. Ordered deluxe banquets. Food was ordinary. service was rushed i.e we had staff sweeping the floor while we were eating, they sent another chef to finish off the service so they can move us along. Tiled floor was slippery, the place smell like oil as the exhaust filters prob hasn’t been cleaned for a long time. Unfortunately we didn’t get the teppanyaki experience like we did in other places.

I must say I walked out of the restaurant feeling disappointed. I wasn’t expecting it to be awesome food as it’s in the end Teppanyaki, but I was expecting better quality food. Good entertainment for groups but that’s all. I also felt the restaurant’s service was rushed. Paid $70 per person plus drinks for a very disappointing dining experience.

Portions were very small. They’d run out of any extras Eg miso soup or tempura. The owner kept telling us how bad it was and how short staff they were. Then mentioned they’d also run out of salad. No discount and the lack of supplies wasn’t mentioned when booking. “Seafood set” was 1 prawn and 4 scallops with steak and chicken. $68. Too expensive and feel ripped off. This isn’t true Teppanyaki. If you can’t get staff or supplies then close. Don’t operate on a “wing” and make us pay. Entertaining yes definitely, but value NO!

Made a reservation for dinner. We turned up on time, were seated promptly, and then basically ignored for half an hour. Another group came in after us and were immediately set up with a chef and asked what they would like to order. Meanwhile, we hadn't even been asked if would like any drinks. We tried multiple times to get someone's attention, but we're repeatedly told it would just be a minute. The place was also filthy and filled with screaming children. We ended up leaving and eating at the nearby Chinatown Noodle King where the food was great. Won't be coming back.
