Flying Fish And Chips

If you're in need of a feed and fish seems like the best option then you could eat here but I would not go out of my way to eat and would realistically try something else next time. The fish on the sushi was small, quality was a bit below average and the whole combination was uninspiring. The fish and chips was poor. 2 stars.

I ordered the grilled salmon burger for dinner tonight. The service was efficient and friendly and my burger came out in less than 5 minutes. The burger itself was really delicious. The roll was fresh, the salmon was cooked perfectly, and there was lots of accompaniments on the burger too. Really delicious.

After previously being impressed with Flying Fish Restaurant at the Star today feeling like a relaxed lunch we decided to try the Flying Fish Takeaway restaurant instead, unfortunately this was a major mistake. We ordered a fisherman's plate for $28, a Seafood salad, sushi and 2 additional calamari rings. I don't have an problem paying for quality however today's food was devoid was more service station quality than a takeaway option for a highly recognised seafood restaurant. Firstly the fisherman's plate was small low quality. The chips were from frozen as were I suspect the battered fish and calamari. The salad came dry with only a small Shop bought dressing provided which made for a pretty tasteless dish. The sushi was the best of the 3 dishes but again was pretty standard and not up to the quality that is expect from a good restaurant. All in all this was a very disappointing visit and with other better options at the Star (Black and Cucina Porto) one that I won't be making again.
