Jack's Cafe Penshurst

I had a very unpalatable experience here this morning. I ordered the eggs benedict with smoked salmon which I wholeheartedly do not recommend. The hollandaise was sickly sweet, but also tasted rancid and it soaked through to the toast which was a soggy mess. I tend to avoid conflict, and considered leaving the meal uneaten and not saying anything. After encouragement from my friend, I went to the counter to complain and proposed a solution of having scrambled eggs on toast instead. After a short wait, I was presented with a bowl of scrambled eggs with no toast, and my previous meal was not taken away. No effort was made on the part of staff to see if I was happy with the food. Given my aforementioned conflict avoidance, I didn’t go back again to ask for toast but I had a few bites of the eggs which were admittedly well cooked, and then left to get breakfast elsewhere. This was probably a one star experience, but I’ve had takeaway coffee here before and it has been fine. All things considered, I do not recommend this café.
