Olivas Tapas Bar & Cafe

A lovely new cafe has opened up in Alexandria! Javier and Petra serve excellent coffee and brownies, and their hot food menu is slowly expanding. Initially I wondered whether they would ever be open - that 'coming soon' sign had been there forever - but the gas company finally sorted out the problems after, Javier tells me, much painful waiting. Now my partner and I have a great place to go for morning tea or lunch, just down the street from our front door. Service is excellent, food is delicious, and the table out the front is absolutely the perfect spot when the mid-morning sun hits it :) Strongly recommended - make sure you try one of Petra's brownies!

We came here for Spanish tapas the other night, it is a nice set up, soft lighting and good décor. There is table sitting but our group chose to sit on the couch and low stools, great for sharing tapas and sipping on wine. The service was very good, the portions were just right and the food divine, we ordered several dishes and was hard to pick a favourite, the meatballs were so juicy and delicious but the Jamon croquettes and the garlic prawns were the standout dishes; some tapas come with complementary bread to mop up the sauce. To top it off for dessert - churros and salted caramel what else is there to say…., I’ll definitely be back.
