Push Cafe Bar

Sadly, our experience at the Conservatory was very average. We arrived and none of the staff bothered to greet us, even though a waiter walked right in front of us, actually cutting us off. We walked up to the bar and were ignored. I asked if we could get some service and said we had a booking. Once they found our booking, we were showed to our table by a friendly waiter but only one of us could sit down as there was a chair missing - presumable taken by a large ground next to us. The waiter went to fetch chair and carried it through the restaurant which was good of him, given it would’ve been heavy,’but really not a good look.. The menu is printed on a few pages of paper, stapled together on A5 size. It just doesn’t match the layout, which is well-appointed. It took around 15 minutes for our cocktails to arrive which was just ridiculous. We had to ask where they were and they still took time after that. We ordered our food and wine shortly after we ordered our cocktails yet the cocktails took so long that when the wine arrived, we hadn’t finished them. The cocktails were a whooping price (around $24/ $27 each) and for that price, the expectation is that they should be without fault but the quantities were not mixed correctly and mine was way too sweet and sour. The wine was good but without lines on the glasses they seemed to be very mingy.. I enquired and the waiter who delivered them said they pour them to just above where the glass curves.. my friend’s was a bit fuller than mine and I have to say that I’ve never received a glass of wine that looked so empty. It was just wrong. My friend ordered a prawn starter which was $22 and she said it wasn’t very flavoursome. 4 prawns on limp lettuce leaves. The serving size was ridiculous for the price. My wagyu burger was rather tasty, but the pattie was a little on the dry side and there was hardly any cheese on it. Furthermore, it was served without a side of fries which seems a bit fast foodish and is just mean and wrong, particularly for the price. I ordered a second glass of wine because the first was so stingy. The pianist and singer was good, but was playing music which seemed to be competing with the noise. For a stylish venue, it would be good to have music to match, background music to compliment the venue, so we moved because between the banging on the baby grand piano and the noisy table next to us, we wanted to get away from the noise. The musician finished and then there was just no music at all - no music put on for guests to enjoy. Some of the waiters were lovely and our waitress was very good, but the slow drinks service was ridiculous. With nobody to greet and seat guests, and being totally ignored, to the table not having a seat, to the way overpriced cocktails, average to below average food and wine that looked like some of it had been drunk already, I really don’t understand why this place has good reviews. One other review gave it 1 star. For the location - a lovely hotel and given the layout which is stylish, it lacks ambience, the paper menus are embarrassing and the entire dining and drinking experience is entirely unsubstantial. Our bill was $143 for a starter, a main (a burger with no fries), 2 cocktails and 3 ‘shots’ of wine. We tipped the waitress because she was lovely, but the arrogant and dismissive waiters who totally ignored us at the bar and all of the above left us feeling ripped off. We had dessert elsewhere because this establishment had 1 dessert only! and we didn’t want to risk paying for something that was not likely to improve what was lingering on our palates. It wasn’t an awful experience, but it was a ridiculously pricey and amateur one and I am not surprised it was about the only place we could get a booking (which we made online 2 hours prior to arriving, so there was no excuse to direct us to a table that didn’t have an extra chair… ).We won’t be returning and I hope others will read this and that if there is a manager, they’ll make themselves known when guests arrive and improve of this substandard, overpriced

If you don't mind paying $26 for a sandwich....ok, so it had crab and lobster in it and it was tasty but ridiculously priced but then again it was decorated with gold leaf....oh and the waiter had no idea it was a sandwich, he thought it was a platter! I am taking the Mickey...but overall it was lovely! P.s Some extremely loud groups in the restaurant nearby!🤔😳

Joey helped me to organize a Client Christmas function in there, and it was amazing. I had to do everything remotely (which makes it harder not knowing the venue or trying the food), but thanks to his help, all the guests loved. In terms of communication and organizing, it was great! I'm now looking forward to go there myself and try everything.

The Conservatory Bar is completely uninspiring. Open plan and lacking any charm, it is largely unwelcoming. When we were there it took 20 minutes to get our drinks even though we were the only people in the bar. When the drinks are some of the most expensive in the city and the service is that bad, it didn't make for a good experience. We were meant to stay all night but left after a drink. Not recommended. Please note, however, that this is a review of the bar only and doesn't reflect the hotel as a whole, or the great buffet within the hotel.
