Fishbowl - Surry Hills

Fishbowl Fishbowl is a healthy fast food style dine in and takeaway casual restaurant. It was founded in 2016 with a belief to to change fast food culture by providing an option for people to get faster food, whilst still being fresh and healthy. Fishbowl has made to order salads or bowls of a Japanese style. They use local, Japanese and sustainable ingredients. There are pre-prepared menu options, that are made once you order. You can also diy by selecting your preferred ingredients. I ordered ahead online and it was ready in less than 15 minutes. I found this to be a very seamless process and as I could DIY ingredients, I had all my favourite ingredients. I visited the Surry Hills store and it’s a hip little spot with bold and vibrant designs, a neon “sashimi” light and graffiti style art. It’s a great option for healthy food in the go.

This is my first visit to this restaurant. When I don’t know how to choose. The service staff (girl) I sincerely said was very caring and gave some suggestions to choose. I must say that the food is really fresh and delicious. The price is very reasonable, so I will visit the restaurant again. Because the service is excellent.

I ordered a salad with no sesame as my wife is allergic. We ordered a custom salad, chose a lemon dressing - no sesame anywhere. Confirmed the order as my name was called out and specifically asked if this had no sesame, which the cashier responded with yes. We get home only to find there are sesame seeds throughout the salad, there's no lemon dressing, but a tahini based one. We are so disappointed.

It's a bit far from my workplace (takes more than 10mins to get there) but I often go to this place because the bowls taste amazing, ingredients are fresh, and I'm happy with the portion. Price is a bit expensive if you choose "make my own" salad, but quality is better than the restaurants. Also staffs are very nice. Really like their pumpkins, wasabi crunch & spicy soy sauce!

This place is one of my all-time favourite poke places! The miso tahini and roasted sesame seriously brings the bowl to life. Haven't yet had the opportunity to test out the preset bowls, but definitely on the bucket list for the future. The servings are also huge for the price, but the difference between the small and large is, in my experience, negligible for the $4 price difference (so Id recommend sticking to the small since its probably better value). Staff are always attentive as well.
