The Old Mill

Well, we came to the place without reading any reviews. So we were serviced by a very friendly and attentive girl. There are not many people around, so our food came very quickly. Coffee was good, I'm usually very particular about my coffee and this one was not disappointing. Food was very good, big serving size, my avocado smash came with 4 toasts, scramble eggs plus a pinch of feta cheese was excellent choice! My husband had lamb which again was surprisingly tasty! It's middle eastern influenced and the sauce was very very good. I can see there are lots of pay issue with the owner, which I didn't meet. Only that very friendly girl who attended us. I really hope she gets her pay, because she's done a bloody good job.

Came to this cafe for lunch, who said they were open for another two hours. When we arrived, we were seated and handed menus, which we began to mull over. We ordered our drinks, and asked for some time to consider the food on the menu. When the drinks came out, we were ready to order - only to be told "the kitchen is closed. You can only order sandwiches". I was annoyed about this, but we were here and our drinks were made. I asked about the sandwiches and was told "you have to go in to view them and see what we have. They aren't on the menu". My question is; why would you hand us menus with your food selections on them (which read "all day" at the top, by the way), if there is not a single thing on that menu that we can order? When I went to the front to pay, the interaction was laughable. They hadn't even put the bill in the system, and treated the transaction as if I wanted to place our order again. Three staff members were involved in settling the bill, one of whom was rather rude with his tone. I suppose this is my fault - if your waiter is too incompetent to tell you that the kitchen is closed, how can I expect him to put the bill into the system? Perhaps my expectations were too high. For what it's worth, after all of that the coffee was mediocre - this whole experience was just pathetic, and poorly run. I'm not in any hurry to return.

TERRIBLE service and food.. after we ordered and paid owner comes back 5min later informing to the general table there are no salads available.. no apologies whatsoever, one of the girls were not informed personally thereby missed the 'announcement' so half an hour later as she asked where the food was, owner simply replied agitatedly 'I already went to your table saying there are no salads'. She had to either wait around to swap her food order or chase them to get a refund. A couple of orders were missing ingredients which was only informed as they were being served, "There are no mushrooms but I gave you extra hash brown". Rude owners and bad food quality.

The owner was very arrogant and rude, has zero care. The $18 Mill Big Breakfast was terrible (Motel Inn style). Our food was at least 50 minutes late. We are more than happy to spend our $80 somewhere else. The one star rating is for the coffee. At the end, they offered the coffees for free. Will never go back.

There is nothing exceptional about this place. I have been here several times and the food and coffee are always average. It would be nice if they had 1 or even 2 killer dishes. Today, I saw the owner engage with his employees in a very frustrated manor in front of other customers. This comes off as unprofessional and I would advise you to always be mindful of your surroundings.

My partner has attempted to grab a coffee take away when she was with our puppy. She asked one of the employees if she can go inside with the dog to order. The reply was positive. Once entered she was approached by the manager or owner, who screamed something like "what are you doing here with the dog, get out of here" and stuff like this in a very inappropriate manner. My parter got overwhelmed with the response and just left without saying anything. That's what I call a customer service, well done. I will make sure not to recommend this place to anyone. Hope you guys close sooner rather than later.
