Not the best Schnitty in Sydney, I put it outside my top 5. It is good, but is a bit too crumby and for the price it is the most expensive and you don't even get greens/veg. The Parmi is much better one of the best I've had and the separate side salad is really good. The atmosphere is great here and lots of space, really nice staff too. Just expensive for a pub and the schnitty doesn't live up to the claim.

The Mary's fellas took over this pub when it was back in distress. Gone were its 80s 90s hay days, when you'd have to be as popular as Usain Bolt to get through the door. It's pretty popular now, and the team there were busy and competent...and friendly..not something you can rely upon, where good staff are harder to find than a bacon sarny at a bar mitzvah. The home lager is a good sub for the sold-out reschs. The parmy is certainly not hiding. The addition of the wing is welcome, the ham bits are...bits of ham. The sauce and cheese play their role. The chips may be on-trend, but not on point. This is a good, reliable place. It's not a cheap eat, or a great eat. It's reliable and very full priced.

One of the best. Whether it’s with a bunch of friends, our kids, or both, the staff are always above and beyond friendly and accommodating. Great beers, even better wine list, and the Schnity lives up to the hype.

My mate Jason, who is a dog owner, thinks dogs in pubs are a terrible idea. Jason reckons being a good dog parent messes with his prime objective in a pub – knocking back a few beers and socialising with mates. For me, seeing puppies hanging out in the front bar in the Unicorn Hotel seemed like a great idea, but of course, I just have cats at home to worry about. We debated this back and forth over a (quite pricy) tinny of Yulli’s Amanda Mandarin ($12.50) that was easy to enjoy. Then we moved on to a pair of Penicillin ($14/each) cocktails, which were not, because they were mouth-blastingly sour. Beyond the dogs, what impressed me about this Paddington pub was it was full of everyday Paddington people, including some who were swing dancing up a storm to live music and an appreciative crowd of onlookers. The old-world charm of this art deco era public house continues into a menu of retro-fantastic snacks like Jatz with French Onion Dip ($12), that eats well but feels kinda pricy for less than a packet of Jatz with a tub of dip. There’s also a Potato Scallop ($14) served in a milk-bar style paper bag with slightly more hipster salt and vinegar powder and smoked tomato ketchup, though it doesn’t live up to the deliciousness I remember from being a kid. Spying a Mary’s Burger ($20) on the menu I hit it up only to find it’s curiously unsatisfying (and a far cry from the one I ate at their Pitt Street outlet when it first appeared). While the patty and the accompanying lettuce, tomato, mayo., cheese and Mary's special sauce felt similar, the toasted milk bun seemed a little stale, and the overall taste didn’t smack you in the burger sweet spot like the first one I tried. While The Unicorn Hotel's food was just okay rather than great, the community-focused vibe was pretty nice. I only wish the place – particularly the amenities – were kept a little cleaner across the course of a Sunday afternoon.

Super pub to visit in the heart of Paddington. I like this place as it offers awesome cold beer choices and a relaxing atmosphere.

It says they have the best schnitty, and honestly, this was the best schnitty I’ve ever had. The people are also fantastic, the Trivia is real trivia, and the beers are excellent. 10/10 to everyone there. I would not recommend anywhere more highly than this

My favourite local pub in the inner east of Sydney. They have such a welcoming atmosphere, no BS policy, and fantastic food (bean dip, roasted cauliflower salad, and home made potato scallops are a winner). Always good music and a pleasant courtyard garden. Their weekly Wednesday Cards Against Humanity game is the most fun you'll have on a school night.
