Cq Cafe

I read the reviews that described this place as a "tourist trap". I think any Sydney Syder would know that any cafe near circular quay will be over priced. What you're wondering is by how much in price and is the food of quality? Or does location overtake any need to have quality food, customer service and value for money? I will leave the judgement to you. It costs $20 for this croissant and smoothie. I think this cafe has real potential because it does have a great location. If they focused on a few other elements then I think that people would be more than happy to pay for the experience and food.

Overpriced bad coffee. These guys need some serious barista training but I doubt they would care enough to even try. This is a high turnover tourist area and word of mouth probably means little to these guys. The service from these people is rude and surly. There is zero friendliness from the staff who look like they've been kidnapped and bullied daily by the balding guy who barks orders at them. It makes me cringe to think that overseas visitors will take away the bad impressions and poor taste served up by this substandard establishment.

I ordered a smoothie from their black board menu. Price $7. Fine, I expected that. She said would you like to take it away or have here? I said I'll have here. Sat down and ordered a meal as well. BAM - bill showed $9 for smoothie!! WHHAT! I complained to the counter staff and they happily showed me their "have here menu" which has different prices. They should have clarified that on their black-board menu was a take-away menu only, and the lady who asked me "have here or take away" should have mentioned it as well. And fine, I did expect to be refunded my extra $2. Oh, and in the middle of it all, they lost my order too! SOOO DISAPPOINTED. Im never going back, and Id suggest everyone avoid this place if they can!

Arrived and took a seat outside. No service so opted to head inside and order. Service or lack there of was appalling. A man stood in the middle of the café yelling it was table service and we had to be seated. He then went on to identify ourselves as customers who weren't seated and demand that we go be seated. There is no signage to suggest it was seated service, there were other customers lining up inside. I vented my frustration to a waitress who informed the "gentleman" who then came to our table and asked if I was rude, I said I thought it was very rude and he turned his back and said I was ridiculous. I asked if he was the owner and he said yes and asked if I wanted a piece of paper to write my complaint. I rejected the offer and told him I thought his behaviour was disgusting for a customer service business. we decided to leave, I went inside and called to my friend who was waiting for service at a juice bar business connected to the café (who was lovely and we have no issue with) that we were leaving due to the poor behaviour in the café. The café "owner" came over to me and told me to get out. I would never ever recommend this venue,
