Side Room By Fishbowl

So disappointed with the changes made to the acai bowl. For the last 3 years, been travelling from out west to this store for the acai bowls, best i have ever had. HOWEVER, today, i noticed changes made to the menu, asked the staff if the acai bowl which is now served in a cup is the same as the previous bowl version they said yes. It is not the same, no crunchy PICS peanut butter, no coconut yogurt, the acai is icy rather than the previous creamy texture, the granola is sugary rather than the previous toasted version. Bring back the previous acai bowl that your store was known for.

As a local, this is my preferred spot to get a smoothie or açai bowl, not only because it’s conveniently located to my home but also because I really enjoy the items on their menu and the flavours all work well and taste good! HOWEVER, the service is atrocious! Its consistently extremely slow and the staff hardly greet you. In fact, one time I ordered and the person serving me barely even spoke. When you do get served by someone who speaks it’s not friendly or clear. This alone puts me off going back altogether. If you have a spare 20-30 minutes to wait for a takeaway smoothie then you won’t be disappointed. I’ve done this before, knowing I’ll have to wait a while and the worse part of it was that I was one of maybe two people at the place, and their staff still showed no urgency in making the orders. Someone needs to take control of the situation. As an aside, they only offer Apple Pay or cash as their methods of payment. Edit 09.01.2021 The owner responded to my review above asking if I’d be willing to try them out again, and I’m pleased to say that I did that on my way home from the beach today. The menu appears to have changed quite a bit since a year ago, which is when my review above tells me I last attended Side Room. The smoothies all looked delicious but the one that appealed to me most today was the Popeye, which tasted as good as it sounded with blueberries, spinach?, coconut water and a couple of other ingredients. Thankfully today’s service was a vast improvement on my last visit. My order was taken promptly and with a smile, the guy serving me was friendly and despite there being a few customers, the smoothie came out really quickly. I’d happily purchase again from Side Room based on my experience today. Next time I may try some of the food they offer as it sounds delicious.
