Toku Toku

We sampled most of the food menu from this place, the food is of high quality with a delectable range of flavours and presentation. Serving staff were always on hand and were courteous. Most dishes are Tapas based, allowing to be easily shared, and average range from $12-$17 per dish. The wine and sake range was decent. This place hasn't been open for too long, which is noticeable in some of the layout - where the plates are nice, but they offer throwaway chopsticks, the atmosphere and outdoor area is great, but the menu's were not up to date and were stained. There's some polishing this place can do, however Toku Toku's worth a visit and will hopefully refine some of the rough edges.

With a roaring fireplace Toku Toku is a great place to get out of a cold evening and warm up with some warm sake (although having the doors wide open seems thermodynamically irresponsible). Food is share plate style and service is well meaning if a little lackadaisical. Portion sizes were generous making it pretty good value. Soft shell crab was served with a fiery chilli mayonnaise, and slow braised beef cheeks fell to pieces just as they should. Sushi servings were substantial and tasty. With slightly more professional service, this place could be really good. As it is, it's a reasonable option for an unhurried casual meal. And there's always tempura mars bar to complete the evening.

Overpriced and overhyped fish and chip shop disguised as an upmarked Japanese pub. While the sake is good, the sushi is subpar. The outdoor garden portion is underwhelming and the lighting garish and eyewatering. Each table has an LED light placed in the bottom, with no shielding between the table and the user's eyes. Waitstaff extremely rude. Highly disappointed by the whole evening.
