Odd Otter Brewing Company

Me and a group of friends went downtown Tacoma last night for a bar crawl. It was a big event with over a thousand people. It started at one bar and we made our way to odd otter. Two friends asked for a recommendation on a beer that was similar to Blue moon, but not watermelon. The person behind the bar took one look at the two of them and said she doesn't feel safe and ask them to leave. These two people happen to be African american Are whole group left at that moment. I'm not trying to make insinuations about the staff, just sharing my experience. If this was an isolated incident then fine. But I think management needs to have a talk with their staff. Especially about how to engage their customers on a busy Saturday night. We were doing nothing wrong, all they wanted was a recommendation for a beer, and it seems were asked to leave based on the color of their skin..

Look this isnt my type of place, so i compromised and gave them 4 stars as to not hurt their rating unfairly. Went on a friday night with some friends, a large table opened up right when we arrived which was fortuitous because the small place was pretty much full. Even being the biggest table available, six people couldnt comfortably sit around it unless they were all built small, which i am not. I also dont find those tall, small square metal stools to be comfortable at all after more than a minute. This place has a food menu which looked decent as bar snacks go. To wash it down you have a chalkboard selection of beers and ciders, and i would have liked to try the porter. Alas, after standing in line behind one customer for 5-10 minutes, i realized that i just wasnt going to enjoy my night here. Not to say the bar stay wasnt busy or moving quickly, they definitely were hustling, i just couldnt see anything actually being accomplished. Unless the guy in front of us was buying drinks for the whole bar, his queue time should have been a minute or less. I would love to try this place out on a less impacted occasion, but i honestly dont think ill be back, because there are too many other options to try before going back to somewhere that just wasnt my jam.

Great selection of beers....ciders too. They do flights too! Sodas and all the water you can drink!!! You can also order food. Burgers that are on point or yummy pizzas...veggie and just cheese are my faves cause the basil leaves are epic and legit. Kid friendly open mic Sundays. Comedy in a cool space. Karaoke, Trivia and Saturday Yoga are also things to try there. There's something for everyone here! Well ventilated, outdoor seating, masks enforced. 2 bathrooms....def a fan of this place.i need to buy a shirt.
