The Grill On Mill

We were a bit nervous because it wasn't too full but it was a Thursday evening. It was cold inside and there appeared to be only one server, so we sat at the bar. The waitress was very busy, she was missing the cues and people sat around waiting for service, even when our order was ready we heard the cook say it was ready at least 3 times. The only consolation was the food, excellent wings, I need to go back to verify I wasn't just starving, when I asked the cook how they prepared them, he said they smoke them, then fry them. The wings were crispy and tasty, we also got some tri-tip and pork sliders, it was a little cold but I think that may have been to them sitting a little longer than expected and the wind blowing through the establishment (window facing mill was open allowing cold air in). The bread was toasty and meat portions generous, I want to try this place again because the food was really good just a bit cold, I am hoping that the service will be better and I can make it a regular stop, if we go 2 for 2 on the service it may turn into a takeout spot.

The Grill on Mill is a perfectly casual BBQ establishment. The décor and theme are simple, and within that exists it's elegance as a place for the messiest of foods, without the the tacky Cowboy art that can often come from a place like it. Personally, the Tri-Tip sandwich is worth coming here for itself, and the sauce will knock your socks off, but don't bother with anything outside of the namesake. Fries are shoestring, perfectly crispy, something hard to find even at places that claim to nail it. Everything else is mediocre at best, like their cheeseburgers, you won't be disappointed but I wouldn't recommend ordering one with much better options on the menu. Bottomless mimosas are fantastic and the $9 price has made The Grill a staple among my friends. The staff is friendly, so enjoy yourself at The Grill On Mill, but remember, it's a Bar-Be-Que joint, so order some BBQ if you want to see why this place gets this rating from me.
