Subzi Mandi

Stop what you are doing, go to Subzi Mandi, and buy some samosas. Now. They are huge and handmade and so flavorful, and, because the uninverse wants us all to be happy, they are currently ONE DOLLAR each! You literally cannot put a price in the deliciousness, but they did, and it’s less than a sub-par cup of gas station coffee. Oh, and did I mention the staff? Because they are the kindest, warmest, and most helpful humans you could ever hope to meet. Every time I walk in, I am greeted like a dear friend, then loaded up with bagfuls of samosas and sent back out into the world. I should mention they also have all the other amazing goodies you would expect from a well-stocked Indian grocery, the freshly made sweets are enough to melt your heart, the place is so clean you could eat off of the floors, and the produce looks as though it were picked that morning…but my heart is all samosa, all the time. Don’t judge me. Just go get some samosas. You’re welcome.

Clean, organized, kind employees and a great selection. This is my favorite Indian grocer. They also have a nice all organic section for dal/lentils and legumes which I haven’t seen organized that way in any other store. Once I inquired about buying gooseberries fresh and they even told me they could pre-order a pound for me specifically since they were in-season. I’ve never gotten that kind of service elsewhere! One man there also gave us a great personal recommendation on hair oil which I wouldn’t have otherwise found. I liked it so much that I got a second one for my sister. Thanks!

Great store with all the Indian pantry staples. Love the customer service. They have delish samosas that they will warm up for you for a tasty snack post-shopping. And in the summer, the owner will tell you if the mangoes are ripe. If the owner recommends them, get a box - they'll be the best mangoes in town.
