Ording's Party Time

New owners had just taken over the last time I ordered here. They changed a few menu items and we're very reassuring on the phone. When we arrived the new owners introduced themselves and ensured our food was made correctly. We definitely we're not disappointed! The new pizza was delicious and the old recipe for the sandwich was just as I had remembered! Very friendly environment and great food!!!

Let me start by telling you that this deli is a little slice of hometown heaven. I discovered this gem about 12 years ago when I moved to Troy, and I'm extremely glad I did. They serve up some of the best food I've ever eaten. They have a little something for everyone's tastes. Pizza, chicken dinners, burgers, hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, the works. This place has a super friendly staff, excellent food, a little market, and that hometown feel you just can't get at one of those national chain restaurants. A family owned and operated business that is very popular with the Miami county locals. My suggestion? Stop in and place an order today. You won't regret it. Trust me. Good food, good price, warm family friendly atmosphere, some outdoor seating, what more could you ask for out of a deli? Try a Texas tenderloin or a pizza. The tenderloins are my favorite. Everything is cooked fresh to order, and prepared exactly as you request.

Been a customer for 33.5 years lol. They have great food to call and carry out. The prices are very reasonable and they have a little bit of everything. Their strawberry pie is great, they even have a select deli, and small shopping items. They so do catering. Still remember walking there as a kid from my grandma's to buy candy, or to pick up the big family chicken dinner for all of us grandkids and our parents.

I used to buy food here all the time, but after this last visit, I won't go back. I ordered a fish dinner and got two tiny pieces of fish no longer than my index finger, and their bar-b-que wings are smaller than they used to be, but are the same price. Two stars I'm giving them for their desserts and pasta salad.

I loved Ording's pizza. I've been in the area for 48 years and can't remember them not being there. I was hopeful when JJ's took over, but a little skeptical. My concerns were validated tonight when I decided to give it a try. I'm thoroughly disappointed. Not much better than a frozen pizza and way more money. I went to Ording's for the pizza and would frequently pick up some other items while I was there. I have to reason to return now.

There are certain things I like to do when I visit my hometown and my recent visit just a few short days to a week ago was no different. Getting a pizza and chip dip from Ording’s is one of them. There is just that certain “taste” of home I always look forward to…and the aroma of the store that seems like “home” I always look forward to. The store offers other snacks, beverages, cold cuts, etc. They are a little higher priced, but it’s always been a Mom & Pop type place and family owned and operated since it opened. Joe opened the store and now his son Pete runs it. I’ve never minded paying the higher prices since “it’s home”. Things have definitely changed in the past few years or so. I do realize that not everything can remain the same, but these are not good changes. Am I the only one that thinks the pizza has changed? I used to love this place. The last time we got pizza here about a year ago it wasn’t done in the middle. We thought it was just a fluke and since I don’t get the pizza all the time since I live out of state…I tried it a few days later and it was mediocre at best. But hey…another fluke I was sure. So, I just visited and got another pizza. Perfect for the week after Thanksgiving eh? And boy oh boy was my mouth watering! I couldn’t wait! But alas, we got it all the way home (my mother’s house) only to discover certain toppings were missing and again, mediocre at best. What happened? Is it that difficult to follow the order? No quality checks? Did they change pizza ovens? The recipe maybe? I don’t know. But I am truly crushed as a piece of my childhood and sense of “home” is gone it seems. I suppose it is still good and edible. But nothing like the amazing, wonderful, “apply to the thigh” good that it used to be. With all the options these days, you’d think they’d try harder. Plus, I said I like the fresh chip dip…that recipe too has changed or something…tastes like the dip you can buy in a container at any grocery. When my sister called to address the missing toppings she spoke to Pete and had him on speaker. He was surprised we were upset over not getting what we paid for. Wait…what? Silly us…expecting to get what we paid for. Sadly, after all these years (yes, since the 1960's)…getting a pizza and chip dip from Ording’s will not be on my hit list for the next trip home. Since it is out of the way, I won’t be stopping there for anything else either. It truly saddens me to write this review. I can can’t give them a 1 because that is a great injustice and anything higher than a 3 is an injustice to other businesses. Therefore a 2 is fair…after all, there isn’t much in the surrounding area and still a convenience to the people who live around there.
