Riverside Fish Bar

In short we live 10 miles away but would always use this chip shop if we were nearer. Highly recommended for food and service. Parking is free for two hours in the carpark on the other side of the road. We arrived around 13:00 on a Tuesday and had a short wait. All good apart from chips appears to be cooked to order. We had regular cod and chip x 2 plus two children's meals a sauge and chips and a chicken bites and chips, the kids meals included drinks. Total cost under 23 pounds! Considering we paid 25 pounds for two large cod and chips in Haywards Heath recently this 23 quid bill for 4 was a bargain! Chips were good, seemed cut larger which was nice and plenty of them for a regular portion. Cod was skin on, I actually like this as personally I find it adds to the flavour. Batter was good, crisp and not too thick. The fish batter was a little greasy but I believe this was caused by serving to us immediately so as to prevent waiting time rather then allowing to drain off for longer so no point in criticism there. Fish was lovely, flaky and tasty. The man serving was friendly and extremely helpful and concerned that the children got what they wanted. Forget Maccy D and KFC, shop local. A 5 star chippy. Well done we will be back!

Wouldn't go anywhere else! Absolutely delicious fish and chips, cooked to perfection. Very happy to cook gluten free to order in a separate fryer. Absolutely no scrimping on portion size or quality. Discounts for pensioners. Always excellent, friendly service. Great value. I can highly recommend this excellent local business. 😀
