Tapioca Express Union City

This for me is a 3 star because I love the drinks and all of the food here. I’ve been coming here for the last 7-8 years, and despite living quite far, me and my family still love the drinks and popcorn chicken. Here’s the thing though, customer service is honestly quite terrible. Workers are usually rude and their mood is always jaded. I don’t think I’ve had one good experience regarding customer service here in the last 7 years. Update: The workers have actually been a lot kinder lately and our drinks are prepared incredibly fast.

Today I went to the store on Decoto Road and I confess that I have never been so disrespected in my entire life. The cashier was so rude, so disrespectful, he made my order wrong several times and when I questioned the extra amount on my bill, he simply told me that it was not his problem, the same attitude I saw repeated with other customers. I ordered chicken popcorn without pepper and after 20 minutes my chicken arrived red from so much pepper, when I asked to change this boy with dyed blonde hair and totally ignorant, he threw the package and said I would have to wait again. When I ran out of lunch time I went to talk to him again and he simply told me to keep waiting or he would refund the money. At the end I said I would talk to Mr. Shi, the store owner and this clerk told me, I don't care, you can talk to whoever you want, I'm done of you. Every week my co-workers and I place numerous orders at this store but I will never return to this place again. Detail: I saw several claims like that in the Google Review.

Today on 05/06/22 I was ordering a tapioca drink which means tapioca milk tea… the lady in the cashier says “ I don’t understand your order…” in a rude way… so I look at my girl trying to figure out what was she talking about and my girl says the milk tea so I said tapioca milk tea so the cashier ask me what size still keeping that unnecessary tone of voice I replied with a large but then I flip my card like I usually do and she now said” oh I can’t give your order I won’t accept it.” I’m like wtf… she was mumbling in her native language with her workers my girl said watch your attitude cause it was that awful she replied back with “FUCK YOU!” And ofc I said something as well I said “shut up H*E”.

Went here after dinner at Sama Uyghur next door - highly recommend Sama! Pretty standard boba shop. Long line at 10 pm but it moved and wasn’t long after we ordered - maybe just poor timing for us. Good amount of seating. We ended up splitting the mango ice cream (they were out of sesame). Forget the name, but it was about #270 on the menu! I couldn’t believe how long the menu was. The ice cream was even better than we expected - tasted like real mango. We also had mango cubes, pudding, and little jellies. But I was just impressed with the ice cream. We sat outside backyard it was noisy inside. Outside was chilly and a lot of people kept driving up in noisy, supped up cars. It was kinda fun to watch the people just hanging out with their cars. Overall, pretty much what I expected. Ice cream very good, seating and environment just average. Bonus points for being the only place open so late (we even tried to get cones and sit in Burger King, but they close at 10!). Tapioca Express was open til 1, they were still busy when we left at midnight (Saturday night).

This is my first time here and I didn't know they don't take credit card , even you pay by debit card they will still charge you $1 service fee for that , it doesn't make any sense ? I understand the banker will charge fee for the credit card or debit card but a dollar is too high , 50 cents is acceptable . Everything's so expensive right now they put this on the customer that is unbelievable.
