Just Bbq

Honestly so sad to write this review. This place was so special to my fiance and I. It was one of our favorite spots to eat at and he used to come here with his brother and friends also. Now I will probably never eat here again. First the service was terrible they used to have a great method and speed when serving their customers now they are busy talking to each other and the wait is always 30 + minutes. The people who work there now are also very rude to their customers not just my fiance and I but other people who were waiting for their food were treated very poorly. Second, the best part of just BBQ was their sauce, which is now not so great. very upsetting since thats really what the place had going for it . And Lastly the most important thing is how unsanitary the workers were. When I got there the guy at the register went to cut meat (no gloves) then wiped his hands on his apron then back to the register then grabbed a piece of bread and put it in our box.. then texted on his phone and went to cut more meat.. I did not see the workers wash their hand once so I will not be eating there anymore its honestly heart breaking seeing what this place has become.

Food is DELICIOUS. Every. Single. Time. They usually have a line waiting to order. The tri tip is always tender, usually always juicy (one time it was a bit dryer than usual). The BBq sauce is very flavorful, the consistency is not thick. The flavor is a tiny bit sweet with just the right spicy kick. I love this place but they do need to improve their customer service. A smile here and there from the employees wouldn't hurt.

I write this with sadness. I have been coming here for years. I came for the tender meat, the hot sauce and the service. And now we are no longer coming back because of the dry meat, and the service. I do feel like I am bothering the workers by ordering food. The wait time is ridiculous and the service is so slow it is painful. I asked for salad because there was none in the fridge and the guy told me to ask the other guy for it. He came out with only two knowing there are other customers who might need some too. They also run out of meat regularly. Once the guy said it was because it was close to closing time. Closing time was an 1 and 30 mins away! Another time I was over charged too. It seems like there is an issue every time I go. I miss the old days. Only a miracle can fix these issues!

Been going there for years and it is my favorite local place for BBQ by far. Casual and simple, they offer only what I want and have never let me down. Great sauce, great meat, and if a sandwich isn't for you, then the beans which come with a plate are well seasoned and delicious. The other sides aren't bad either. Tri-tip is my typical order, but other people I know enjoy the chicken, the ribs and the hot links. Give it a shot and just keep in mind that it's a little take out place which closes when the steak is gone. You won't regret checking it out. There just isn't anything else like it in Ventura.

Been coming here since I was a kid, always a had the best service and food quality. Came here recently since under new ownership and the staff was super unfriendly and rude. Made me feel like I was an inconvenience, the guy in line in front of me was scared to ask for bbq sauce. The food may still be good but the fact the service isn’t, made me cancel my order. Sadly my time with just BBQ has come to an end. RIP.

Just basic Santa Maria BBQ and has been for years. Tri tip grilled right in front of you, sliced up on grilled french bread. Sauce optional but even if you cringe at the thought of BBQ sauce on your tip, try it. The hot version is too much for most. Try it too, but get the regular for sure. Chili beans and potato salad are top notch. I never get tired of this. Be prepared to stand in line, it's worth the wait. 5-17-18 update I'm afraid I have to pull 1 star. I've been here a couple times in the last few months and I'm sorry to say I agree it's not what it was. Being from the central valley we were cooking tri tip and top block 30 years ago. A hint for the owner: your cook has no clue. What I had yesterday was dry, tough, and just plain overcooked. Again. I had to eat the bread alone and dip the meat in the sauce and make like it was jerky. Pull the tips off whole and let them rest at least 15-20 minutes. Don't carve up a tip fresh off the grill! The sauce is the same and your seasoning is too, but carve up the meat as it's served. Just a suggestion 2-24-20. I can confirm that Just BBQ has finally been put out of it's misery.
