Luby's

The baked chicken was delicious and juicy not dry... spinach...had to wait for a while so it can cool off a bit not cold like other places... Please... please... Keep coming to these type of restaurants and not fast food ones ... you will not be disappointed. Would be there every day if I lived in bellmead. Much fancier than the one I work at in Austin.

I have been going to lubys since I was a little kid In San Antonio and I love every visit. Few things have changed and I've probably eaten 100 plus peices of fried fish over my lifetime from here. Very friendly staff and the food is always hot and ready to go. It's a great weekend place to grab lunch for us. I'll keep going to lubys forever The prices are a little steep for cafeteria style food but I like coming here and i would recommend it.

I want to thank you Lubys so much for the wonderful Christmas dinner my children and I received for free. NOT only was it a blessing 😇 but we truly needed a Christmas dinner at the time dealing with Covid-19 and Pneumonia i did not know what I was going to do for Christmas yet we were blessed with a dinner thank you ALL so much for the blessing and thank you for giving the certificates to LV ISD for us to get the dinner. I hope and pray this continues to help families for 🎄🎁🎅.

Decided to stop in today for a quick lunch. Hubby got a regular plate with chicken & dressing + two sides + a roll. His chicken & dressing was just room temperature and the broccoli was cold. I had the Luann plate with 1/2 baked fish. The fish wasn't very crispy and we came in around 12:20p, so it wasn't like we came in after the lunch hour. I was served one small scoop of green beans, whereas my side of beets & onion salad was a good, generous amount. One of the line servers, Tiffany, deserves a pat on the back for her cheerful attitude and helpfulness. Our table attendant, Mason, was friendly and came by a couple of times to check up on us. I think it was one of the managers who walked around the dining room offering complimentary cornbread to customers. That was very nice! UPDATE: Stopped by a couple of days ago and had a much better experience, so I bumped up my rating by a star. Just asked and found out one of the sides on my Luann plate could be a salad. And not a dinky salad on one of their side veggie dishes - I mean a bigger bowl filled with all the salad toppings I wanted! I sat down and went straight for the salad until it was gone. Then, I started on the green beans and meatloaf. The beans had plenty of bacon bits. The meatloaf had a bit more filling than I prefer, so the salsa and pico de gallo had excellent heat and added so much to the flavor of the meatloaf. The jalapeno cornbread was a little too sweet for me, but everything else made up for it. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. He brought requested items promptly and always had a smile on his face.

It's been many years since our last Luby's trip. I have fond memories going as a kid. I was genuinely excited to visit an old friend. The modern Luby's experience isn't as wonderful these days. The food is mostly as I remember. Can't go wrong with any fish or chicken meal. The mashed potatoes and mac and cheese are staples and excellent. The selection of pies are equally good. So, what's the problem? Hard to put a finger on... The staff works hard, attentative, polite. It's a combination of the beige dining room, the worn out men's room, the elimination of the service cart filled with drinks and condiments, and the price tag! Three plates and drinks = $50. Wow. Hardly competitive. Walked out satisfied, but missing the nostalgia of Luby's circa 1980s. C+
