Papparich Knox

Paid $11.50 for 6 miserable pieces of supposedly fried chicken wings and $16.90 for 6 sticks of satay. The chicken wing was so small as you can see on the second picture compared to a teaspoon. It was dry and there were chicken feathers on them. The third picture was what I was supposed to get in my order. I don't think I will order from this store again.

The restaurant wasn't packed when we arrived, and the food arrived in good time. We ordered Nasi Lemak, but you could tell that the prawns in the sambal prawns had come from a freezer, and had been microwaved, with sambal poured on them. This was rather disappointing as the proper way to cook the prawns is to try them in the sambal. We also ordered a teh Tarik, but it was quite small...

We have eaten there quite a few times in the past and the meals have been very good. Tonight we ordered three dishes for take away and all three were well below standard, they lacked ingredients and flavour. The chicken with the Nasi Lemak was burnt and dry suggesting it had been cooked for quite a while. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

There is no direction sign nearby pointing to this restaurant. All we knew it was near the cinema and JB hifi in Knox Shopping Centre, outside the main building, among the other restaurants. If it was not for the service provided by the young waitress who obligingly took the laksa back to the kitchen and changed for a new dish, Chow Kwai Teow CKT, I would have scored this place with 1 or less if permitted. Some friends raved about this $10 a plate Monday to Thursday lunch Malaysian restaurant a few weeks ago, and therefore my wife decided to give this place a try, with full knowledge that the standard on food of these friends, former Malaysians, is very woolly and "half-pass-six". The interior deco in black-and-white was modern and pleasant, not very much Malaysian restaurant look. Most importantly, it looked clean. The waitress brought a bottle of water and two plastic "glasses". The bottle looked like a beer stubby. The wooden cutlery holder "box" was not filled and there were only a couple of pairs of chopsticks, two or three spoons and forks. The curry chicken nasi lemak looked good and tasted good. I suspected the curry chicken was not cooked on-site, very likely was supplied from a central kitchen from franchised organisation. The laksa with chicken was a disappointment. It lacked that layer of red chilli oil. It came with thick Hokkien noodle. Since it was not assam laksa, or Sarawak laksa, I would expect it to be a bit lemak with coconut cream used in the soup. The laksa was sour, either the soup or noodle had gone bad. I pressed the call button, and waitress responded. I asked her to mention to the chef about the dish. I did not make a scene about this. The order was changed to a plate of vegetarian CKT with egg. The dish failed the colour test, looked extremely anemic. The bean shoots were "skinny" indicating they were not fresh. The Kwai Teow, which is the flat rice noodle, seemed to stick together. A good CKT demands great skill, good ingredient and very hot "wok". For extra two dollars, my wife had a sago dessert. The presentation was good, and the gula Melaka did enhance the flavour of this cold refreshing sweet dessert. I waited until my patience ran out. My wife almost finished her dessert and I was waiting for my teh tarek, or pull-tea. I alerted another waitress, and I was told someone was making it. The teh tarek was more like sugar syrup. Too much condensed milk was poured into that miserable cup of teh. I could not taste the tea flavour. The teh was not not pulled, but my legs were It was the most unpleasant Malaysian experience I ever have.

Very good food, authentic to what you would get in Malaysia and fresh Rotis BUT a minor issue, when I visited the Knox City branch today they gave me about 1 tablespoon of Dahl, it only just covered the tray as I discovered when I got a spoonful and it was all gone..., normally they give you four times as much as this (well they do at the chadstone one I normally go to), I hope this is not their usual habit here. Apart from that stingy serve this is a great place to get a good Malaysian feed.

My favorite restaurant in Knox. Restaurant is clean, staffs are friendly. Food in good quality. I always order pappa Fired Mee, roti telur with milk tea and they are always satisfied and delicious ❤️ It was same like the taste in Malaysia. 🤤 I tried new menu recently for nasi kunyit. It is amazing with the sambal sotong. Recommended👍
