Il Canale

By far this is the best pizza I’ve had in VA. The margarita pizza at il Canale is the closest to traditional Italian pizza you can get. The truffle ravioli was perfect in every way possible. Same can be said for the calamari. The atmosphere was very calming and the server was great. 10/10 experience. The prices are also very reasonable.

Was pleasantly surprised! There are so many Italian restaurants in Georgetown so I thought this would be mediocre, but I don’t have many complaints about the food. The prosciutto & melon appetizer was delicious, and so was the truffle ravioli I got. I liked their house pinot grigio as well—very light and fruity. Service was also great. The only negatives I have to say are that the complimentary bread didn’t taste very fresh and that interior/atmosphere of the restaurant was nothing special. The lack of atmosphere could’ve just been that there was no one there when we went during lunchtime.

What a gem to find! I had an opportunity to have dinner with my brother (while I was in town) and we found this place and thought “why not”… what a great decision! We sat at the bar and had a great opportunity to chat with the staff working the bar. They were very helpful with information and guiding us in what drink we should get with the food we chose. I ordered the Diavola pizza and absolutely loved it!

Felt like I was transported to Italy for an hour at lunch. The staff used a few Italian words and they had all the items you could want at an Italian lunch. For drinks we got the Aqua panna and some spritz. The spritz was well balanced and not too bitter. We tried the polpette as an appetizer and soaked up the sauce with some bread that came with a delicious garlic olive oil. For the main meal, got the gnocchi in the bolognese sauce, the portions were large enough to bring some home and have for dinner. Ended our lunch with some limoncello, $10 is overpriced for the amount you get, so probably wouldn’t get that again. Overall absolutely loved this restaurant and would love to be back and try the other dishes.

il Canale was a nice and tasty dinner experience for our group of four. Our service was great and our food was so good. I had the gnocchi, bruschetta and caesar salad. The Godfather cocktail I had was also really good. Food and drinks were priced pretty standard for the area and the dress code for the restaurant is casual. The vibe itself was fun and the restaurant has nice taste in decor, with a great location in Georgetown neighborhood. It's very close to shops and dessert places. Parking is really difficult in this area, but you can pay for garage parking. We got an uber and it was perfect.
