I have dined at Queen’s English around five times and each visit has been exceptional. From the friendly and knowledgeable front of house staff, to the skilled and hardworking kitchen team, to the dedicated and communicative management—it seems as if the whole Queen’s English family has made it their singular goal to ensure every patron leaves happy. That was certainly the case on my most recent visit, which happened to be a special dinner for my fiancée and me on the day of our engagement. Co-owner Sarah worked with me in advance to prepare a meal with pre-selected courses and champagne and it was executed flawlessly. It is difficult to judge the food at Queen’s English because it is all so good. How do you compare the melt-in-the-mouth quality of the steak and egg (served cold) with the luscious octopus scallion pancake or the deliciously crispy whole red snapper or the surprisingly refreshing Bobo chicken? At the end of the day, Queen’s English sets the bar so high, choosing a favorite dish comes down to a matter of splitting hairs. The only thing competing with the food at Queen’s English is the staff. The kitchen timed the meal perfectly, an orchestra of tastes perfectly plated and then delivered by attentive and friendly servers. The wine recommendations were on point, and the spontaneous Polaroid picture at the end of the meal (which has now been framed and hangs in our own kitchen) ensured it will be a night we will always remember. Queen’s English is a rare gem of a restaurant, a blend of culture and cuisine, flavor and quality for price, and charming and welcoming ambiance. With all that going on it might be easy to think it may come out garbled—but after several dinners it is abundantly clear: Queen’s English is speaking my language.

Visited with my wife and adult children and had a great time. Diverse selection of food. We tried multiple items on the menu that were served family style and liked them all. The atmosphere is wonderful. The server also recommended a wine made in Texas which we tried and liked so much we got a 2nd bottle. If your in DC give it a try.

Enjoyed a fantastic meal here with delicious wine. Every dish we ordered was outstanding. Flavorful, interesting textures, good portion. The dessert was the only thing that did not impress us (the salted duck yolk ice cream). One picture missing is the truffle dumplings. The place was pretty packed on a Tuesday night, so I would recommend reserve ahead.

Great atmosphere. The staff couldn’t have been more attentive and enthusiastic. I love the tables in the front window. The fish was perfect. Tried many other new and interesting and delicious things. We will return.

Food was amazing, and the service was absolutely excellent. Everyone there is on top of their game — the wait staff very warm, welcoming, great recommendations, came around just the right amount. Appreciated the small touches like people coming in with new plates for every dish. Just fantastic. Worth every penny.

Probably my favorite restaurant in DC at the moment. I've been three times and did a wine tasting menu the last time. It is a small menu, but I'd rather a restaurant nail the menu over offering 50 items that are all bang average. Everything on the menu is amazing. Order the fried pork strips/ears (can't remember) and thank me later. Absolutely delicious.

Had a wonderful dinner with close friends last night. We try a lot of new places in DC and we were split between this being the best or second best restaurant we've enjoyed as a group. The food is delicious, unique and imaginative. Also, staff were very friendly and helped walk us through the menu and with selections. Every dish was exceptional. We enjoyed the spicy jellyfish, octopus dumpling, truffle dumpling (I need to eat this again), crispy whole red snapper (still dreaming of this), bobo chicken and the duck noodles. If I lived in the neighborhood, I would be stopping in every other week for those truffle dumplings and a cocktail at the bar

We tried out the place yesterday and was super impressed by the food here. Very tasty and full of flavors. We had crispy pig ears, shallot oysters, roasted cauliflowers, octopus pancakes, truffle dumplings, and crispy deboned red snapper. Server was wonderful, friendly and attentive. Price is slightly on the higher end but it was a great experience. Reserve in advance since they booked up quickly.

Lovely little place with open kitchen, which brings a real intimacy to the experience. Tried the crispy pigs’ ears and tofu and truffle dumplings. Both excellent. Daikon fritters also sublime. The drunken noodles were good but too heavy on salt. The ice cream dessert was amazing. Solid cocktails, great wine deals, and cheerful service make this a place to get to know. Will be back and hope they get a much deserved Michelin star.

Long overdue review. We absolutely love this neighborhood gem, one of our favorite spots in DC! The food is always amazing, especially love the crispy pig ears for a quick snack but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Their wines and drinks are unique, fun, and (most importantly) taste fantastic - try their "natty hour" happy hours. The best part, though, has to be the consistently incredible service from everyone in the place. The entire staff is super warm, friendly, and attentive throughout the experience - it honestly feels like being welcomed in to a friends well decorated home for a fantastic dinner party.
