I hate to draw attention to this place, because it is a gem in a sea of crazy that is U Street these days. The outdoor seating in the back is the real secret and benefit of this place. The drinks are inexpensive. The music is great--usuallu a mix of 80s/90s. The scene is very much that of a neighborhood bar. The loss of one star is really just due to the bathrooms....they are grade "dive bar" level.

One of the best decors ever. However the bar tender was unfriendly. I happened to be a bit impatient and asked for my drink after a 5 minute wait, he did not even answer but gave me one of those "I know you are waiting" looks. Still i must admit the drink was worth waiting.
