Wingate's Cake Design

I’ll start by saying I don’t love cake. It’s not really my thing. It’s not really my husbands fav either. But both of us tolerate carrot cake and it’s seasonal and rustic, which fit into the theme for our teeny tiny backyard wedding. Wingate’s is local for us and the owner/pastry chef is a JWU alumnus like me, so I rolled the dice and ordered one of their specialty party cakes, Honey Bourbon Carrot Cake, the large size. And crossed my fingers. Oh My Goodness— best gamble ever! I can say from my own tastes and all of my guests reviews, this was legit THE BEST CARROT CAKE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. Light, fluffy, textured, not too sweet, amazing frosting, elegant styling.... We had 12 people and I have one slice left in my freezer to eat next year. So while they say the large feeds 15 people, that’s not entirely true— because it’s so delicious that a couple people split a second piece, and THAT is a true complement. Thanks to Wingate’s for making my wedding day more special because of their delicious confection! I will recommend them to EVERYONE.

I’m so insanely impressed and grateful and just over the moon for the cake Lauren (the owner of Wingate's cakes) made for us. It was literally my dream wedding cake! Back when we first got engaged I made a list of my top 3 wedding priorities and cake was one of them. And we went on a very serious hunt tasting cakes because I was adamant it needed to be both beautiful AND delicious (many wedding cakes I’ve have in the past we’re pretty but tasted like nothing). After looking at and speaking to about 15 different bakeries in the area, we felt so confident when we chose Lauren for our wedding. I am so amazed how she was able to hear hear all my crazy ideas and piece them together to literally make my dream wedding cake. On our wedding day, I cried when I finally saw it. It was literally exactly what I’ve always envisioned AND it tasted AMAZING!!!! We will 100% be visiting Newport again in the future for anniversaries, vacation, etc and will definitely be coming to her again for mini versions of our same cake. Every single guest at our wedding raved about our cake, both the style and the flavor. People were standing around it taking photos all night. I’m still in awe. We ate so much leftover cake the days after our wedding. I can’t say enough good things and I am so grateful to have found Lauren!!! The color of our cake matched our theme perfectly, the detail was so on point with our style and vibe, the flowers were so dreamy and vibrant, and the height was AMAZING in creating such a grand presentation for a cake that only needed to feed a relatively small crowd. People were saying it didn’t even look real, it was so perfect. Thank you times 10000000 Lauren. Our cake was such a huge part of my wedding vision and she executed it flawlessly and I can’t thank her enough!!!!!

Lauren made my wedding cake and it was perfect! We only had a small cake but it spoke volumes!! She envisioned our every need and even collaborated with my florist to add real flowers! You have to try the rosé all day cake, I literally cannot wait to for my 1 year anniversary to east my frostbitten leftovers, yummmm!! ;)

Was looking for something really different for a few small intimate gatherings. Lured by her creative & tailored designs, we worked on three different cake ideas. She was thorough, thoughtful and very creative. The cakes were disgustingly good and a wonderful addition to the gatherings. Hope she launches a retail business!
