Myer's Delicatessen

My husband and I loved going to Myers Deli, when we lived in Winnipeg. The Montreal smoke meat sandwich is served on fresh cut rye bread and is soooo good. We were originally from Montreal and enjoyed a smoked meat sandwich. It was such a treat to be able to enjoy it again. The French fries are delicious. An added bonus is they bring in shipments of bagels from St. Viateur Montreal. Again you just can’t compare a Montreal bagel to any other bagel. Desserts are homemade and delicious. So are the salads. You feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door. Great people, great food, and a cozy atmosphere, you can’t ask for more (unless it’s another smoke meat sandwich).

Why did I just find out about Myers Delicatessen recently? I’ve been in Winnipeg for years and I can’t believe I only discovered this place a little while ago from word-of-mouth. From the photos on the restaurant wall, it’s apparent that this little “hole-in-the-wall” gem has been here for decades. It’s busy even on a weekday mid-afternoon with numerous regular customers stopping in to get their sandwich fix. You can eat here (they only have a few tables) or order food to go. You can also just buy their amazing meats as well. The sandwiches … oh my god they the delicious. Super good. The Montreal smoked meat is probably one of their more popular sandwiches but I especially love the brisket one because it comes with this onion jus for dipping which is mind-blowing. The pickles they serve with the sandwiches are really good too.
