Black Walnut Cafe - Alpharetta

Update 2018-08-12: we finally got a chance to return following the letter we received from the manager. We all ordered our usual fares. The cheeseburger for our little one (which he devoured 3/4 of), our oldest ordered a salad which disappeared a few minutes after we brought it to our table, the tacos for my wife which she said was delicious and I got the Frenchie...very good! Service was much better. Sundays are crazy busy here. The staff was helpful and attentive. It seems like things are back on track and we will return! Update 2018-06-26: the manager did send us a note inviting us to come back. We will. We haven't had the opportunity yet...the one time we tried, the line was too long and our children were too hungry. Original post: Today was disappointing. This is a place we frequent. My daughter and wife love this place. My son and I do too. Today however was disastrous. The food took over 40 minutes to come out. I spent most of my time waiting at the counter instead of with my family. We still didn't get our full meal until we had finished eating and were on our way out. Here'a breakdown of our meal order (which is what we have ordered 2 - 3 times past visits). We are a family of 4 and ordered 1 soup & salad (the tortilla soup never made it out...it's what we carried out), a cheeseburger that was cooked to a crisp and served cold, a salad and mac and cheese (both were cold...good for the salad not for the mac and cheese) and finally the frenchie with over medium eggs and cheese grits (they were out of grits so we got home fries, one egg was medium the other hard and the french toast came out after I finished eating my egg and home fries). We came here to enjoy the company of each other and the food. Not sure what happened today but something broke badly in the operations and it seemed no one was there to step up and take control. The kitchen was not responding to the front line and the front line didn't seem to be doing anything about it. The format, where you order first and go sit down is one that works for this place. It's how they operate. Normally they execute it well. The food usually is always delicious. Today was a big disappointment to at the least.I

Sat at the bar, first time customers here, first place we stopped for food at while visiting family in Georgia, really good atmosphere, a wicked combination of upscale brunch, sports friendly bar and fine dining on the opposite side of the restaurant. Great crafted cocktails, Andriella at the bar with her trainer we're great and attentive even with customized cocktails, but the food put it over the top. Turkey burger with avocado, tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms and goat cheese was delicious. Would be regulars here if we lived here!

I ordered the waffles and chicken sandwich. The waffle has no flavor, the chicken had a hint of salt. I did not get any “pepper jelly” on the sandwich at all(which I was excited to try for the first time) and the garlic cream cheese was the only thing making me take a second bite of the tasteless, soggy, waffle sandwich. The fries were pretty tasty though, i did not even need ketchup.
